Here is my old Tudor Chrono. I bought it brand new from a Canadian AD in 2005 (it had to be ordered in from Tudor). It had an "H" serial #.

I think it was one of the last ones of this series, as the back had "Tudor Geneve Suisse" instead of "Tudor Geneva Prince" like some others. I believe the current generation of Tudor watches also use the "Geneve Suisse" writing on the caseback......

I wish I never sold this watch. The MSRP in 2005 was $3,400 CAD, and I got 30% off that price!!! When I ordered this one, the AD had 6 or 7 other chronos in the case that he offered at 50% off. They just didn't sell very well in Canada.

I should also mention that when I ordered this Tudor in 2005, only the polished lugs (89190P) was available, and the brushed lug version was not available from Tudor

Dan Pierce or Panos,

Could you do me a huge favor and take a picture of the springbar in the deployant (the one that holds the buckle with the Tudor Shield with the pin that goes in the strap hole) and also measure the length and diameter?

Mine broke and I lost it and I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere.

Maybe if I can show a watchmaker and give dimensions, they will be able to help me.

Thanks
James
James,
As best I can tell the spring bar is 1.8 cm long and 1mm wide.
Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for taking the time to snap a picture and measure. If I can't find a springbar locally (Rolex Canada wants to me ship the entire watch to them so they can fix it) then I'll just sell the Tudor deployant and Tudor rubber strap "as is" and let someone else deal with it.

It's too bad, as I like the way the strap looks on the watch, especially with the endlinks which are similar to the ones on the chrono.

I just ordered a Hirsch Pure rubber strap to replace this Tudor setup. I'm just hoping the ends of the Hirsch strap fit under the endlinks........

That's a shame because it's a great looking setup. I would think an AD should be able to source the right part.

Some straps could be too think for the end links, but not all. You might have to use 1.8 jubilee spring bars rather than the 2mm that come w/ the strap.

My AD wants to send the entire watch to Rolex in Toronto to have them fix it. I guess the springbar you posted is impossible to find anywhere.

I just don't want to send the watch in, pay for shipping both ways plus the cost of the part when it's a $2 springbar that I can install myself in 20 seconds.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed the Hisrch strap I ordered works with the endlinks. If not, I'll be wearing it on the nato, even with a suit/tie

That seems a long way round the barn from Tudor. They should just ship the spring to the AD and get it installed. Unless they want to investigate why it's been tough to open and close. I suspect one of the sections of the deployant is bent creating a tighter fit at the clasp.
Hope you can get it sorted.

Well Lisa, you won't be the first woman I've disappointed (Wait, that didn't come out right ) but if you love lume you're going to hate a Tudor chrono.
See those little specks of white just above the indices? See the thin strip of lume on the hands?
That's it. Better carry a flashlight.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge about these Tudors. I now know that I'm looking for is a 79260P or 79270P (I like the polished lugs)... with Arabic numbers and a white dial/black subdials. So the hunt begins.

This is a bit late now but here you go, Lisa. I had my wife pose with my tudor chrono. She has a 6 inch wrist. IMO, it looks great on her. It's just that she's used to watches 36mm and below, but I think she can easily pull 40mm watches and so does other women.

I couldn't comment yet on the lume but I can tell you that this dial combo is a very legible one. I can't get enough of this watch. I already spotted another one in an AD and I'm seriously thinking of getting the black bezel, black dial with a jub bracelet. That way I can mix and match. This watch is super cool! So I'd say, go for it! And good luck!

Arthur - I love your pics. Your little baby is an added bonus. Tell your wife thanks for letting you take the photos. The watch is gorgeous on her. Maybe she will want to wear it, too.

And a big THANK YOU to you for taking the trouble to take these pics for me. I appreciate it very much!

Also - is your Tudor a "big block?" It looks pretty substantial!

Very nice - but is the dial hard to read? I'm old and farsighted and I think more contrast is necessary. I DO like that style of numerals - they look almst 3-dimensional. Thanks for the pic!

That's not a Big Block, it's a 79280P. The difference in height is really negligible. It's more the case design that makes the Big Block appear thicker than the more modern Daytona style Tudor case.

Yes, as does the next series, 792XX. The series after that, 792XXP, are the only ones w/ polished lugs.

I have a question... have located a 79260P. However, the bezel insert looks a little funny upon close examination of a supplied photo, like it has popped out of place in one area. It is lifted up a little bit around the 12 o'clock area. If it has bent, can it be reshaped or must it be replaced?

Does it snap into place?

How difficult is it to find a replacement bezel insert - a real one?

Thanks!

They have those brand new at the local Tudor dealers, and they are willing to drop 25% on them.

Lisa, I have not investigated how the bezels come off on either my 79280 or my 79260.....the black plastic is definitely an "insert" but mine is in very firmly...I'd be wary if the one you are looking at appears to be parting company with the steel part of the bezel....ask questions get better photographs.....funnily enough I had a PM this morning asking if I knew anywhere where a new 79260 bezel could be found.....I don't know for sure but I put the enquirer onto "my man"....still waiting to hear how he got on with the search....PM me if you want more details...

About how much do they cost? Since Tudors aren't sold in the US anymore, it might be tricky to find one here. I guess I could order one from Canada.

Oh, wait - you mean the entire watch! I was thinking of bezel inserts!

Ah... maybe I'm thinking of the original. Yours is a heritage, right? And it pays homage to one made in the 1970s?
