I just find the DSSD way to big for me everytime I try it on.

DSSD. It's a statement! It may not be the right choice for you, but for me it is. All other Subs feel small and light to me. But if that is your comfort level go for it. You can't go wrong with a Sub.
The DSSD is a standout. It is tall, but I like that about it. |

Another vote for the Deepsea assuming you have tried both on since you are cross-shopping the two. If anything I would think price would factor in since there is a bit of a premium for the DSSD vs. the SD. Both are awesome watches though.

Buy a DSSD....only a handful owns them! You could never go wrong with either one! Try em both and see which one sings to your heart!

I have both, whilst the DSSD is technically way more advanced I wear the SD much more often...

Sea Dweller.
Lusted over a DSSD for a few years..but bought a sea dweller instead. SD = everyday watch, can't imagine wearing a DSSD daily. I do love the huge chunk of metal on my wrist, but it's the way it sits that bothers me a little bit that eliminates it from being a daily watch.

Guys, thank you all so much for all your thoughts and input! This is why I love his place and seeing this forum grow so strong everyday! The spirit from everyone is incredible!
Back to the discussion, hv tried both on and love both, it's just hard as I agree SD is perfect for daily wear, but part of me to be honest also possess abut vanity which draws me to the big size DS for fun and statement! Especially in the summertime it looks fantastic with polo shirts and shorts at the pool or beach! Hence, torn again, but I will keep everyone posted once a decision is made! Also, I am thinking about getting them 2nd handed to reduce the cost factor, an if luck enough, I might be able to afford both! ( yeah right!)

SD is my vote. Partly for the fact I think the DSSD is to big and partly because I hate the extra writing "ring lock system" etc around the dial. SD is the true tool watch.

Sea Dweller for me>>>>
I can pull off a DSSD, but I would go back to a 40mm watch. I own a Steelfish XL, but I wear my Subs more often.
Good luck! |

I had a SD before selling and trading up to SDDS and could never go back!! The bracelet and other improvements and the size make it an easy choice for me.

Some day the DSSD maybe be a classic but right now the SD already is. Go Sea Dweller.

You should try both of them and go with the one that signs better to you, but if it was me I will go with the Sea Dweller as it is discountinued and it is a smaller than the DS.
Good luck |

I'd go with Sea Dweller 16600, but I have never tried on the DSSD (don't have wrist to pull it off anyway).

I have owned both the SD and the DSSD. Love both. With all the watches I own, the Deep Sea gets the most wrist time. People talk about iconic watches, I wonder if any of the Rolex owners during the 60s and 70s knew their Sub's were going to be so "iconic". Time will only tell which model will be a classic.

Go for the classic SD. The DSSD is just too bulky and out of proportion even if you're a big watch person.

DSSD. But it still depends on your wrist size/weight preferences...

Whichever one you get, you will always mentally debate whether you should have purchased the other. With that said, a NOS SD will not always be available but, as stated, the DSSD will be and ... you'll have a $1700USD running start towards funding the acquisition.

Buy now the SD as there will not be many available and prices are going up.
The Deep Sea will be around for many years to come...so you can always buy it when you have more money. |
