Oh, I see... the wardrobe is like a built-in piece of furniture.
How about a small fishing net (for aquarium tank) on a long stick ?

Sell the wardrobe, watch included...buyer has to move it all...and buy yourself something new!

A piece of wire with a hook at the end should retrieve the watch through the hole. The hole can be "fixed" by putting the core back, and sticking a picture of a Rolex over the "damage".

Good luck, and keep us informed!

Christian

Edit: I would be scared to let the watch slip off the hook near the top of the cupboard, and falling a second time. Hence the hole near the bottom.

I'd do a variation on this suggestion if those are drawers on bottom - remove drawers and go inside with drill and cut the hole in back/bottom of wardrobe. (if you can navigate around hardware in there) Put drawers back in, no need to fix hole?

Fascinating post. This site rocks!

Is there a base to this void or is your watch in fact laying on the floor? If the latter you may be able to lift one end of the unit sufficiently to fish it out.

All the semi-helpful suggestions make me chuckle : )))) GO FISH!

I've tackled jobs like this many times. (Locksmith...hollow doors)

Bend a hook out of a stout piece of wire (I use heavy paper clips) and tie it to a string...even dental floss. (I use nylon cord)

Add a weight to the string, if need be, close to the hook. (I use a nut)

Fish away!

You WILL be rewarded.

P.S. Don't use a magnet as SS is not very "magnetic" and it may affect the movement, as stated above.

(Nice pictures! )

P.S.S. I've used the "hole saw" method before, also.

Btw...

Now that we ALL know where your hiding place is, you gotta find a new one, or at the least, shove some foam in there so WE don't have to fish it out!

Fill the hole up with water!

Won't help get your watch, but I'm interested to see if it's safe to immerse a Rolex to that depth.

If the hole leaks...nevermind.

A long stick or dowel with duct tape at the end. Duct tape solves every problem. Lol.

Use the sticky tape like people are suggesting. Don't use a super-powerful rare-earth magnet. No good can come of that.

Carl is right. Duct tape has to be involved here somewhere.

Plus, it won't hurt the cat.

Go to a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) store and buy a reacher to get your watch back. Good luck

What about those claws to pick up rubbish of the ground, if that happen to me I would just cut the back of the wardrobe out get the watch and then use that spot as a secret stash

What's less of a hassle?
a. Retrieving your watch by any means neccassary
b. Explaining to the in-laws you're not wearing the Rolex because you dropped behind furniture.
