I'm glad you did it yourself, that makes it somewhat less bad. But man, that was just plain stupid And now you have water in it, you still keep the watch running....

Good try Tony, I believed its rather difficult to buff out scratches from Sapphire crystal. Now I'm sure

Wow, Oh well it appears as it was going to have to go to Rolex anyway.

In Germany, RSC would insist to do a full service and would not perform the crystal change only. Hope, that it's different in the US.

I just purchased a new Miller Glass Welder, Your welcome to borrow it. I am surprised you were able to remove the scratches.

Oops! I have done a similar thing myself! I had 312 that I scuffed one day while out running errands. I have used the diamond paste method before and broke out the little tubes to rub it away. This one had a marking that was a little deeper, so I decided to break out the dremel to 'speed up the process'. Well, my crystal wasn't quite as bad as your deepsea, but it made it 10x worse than the original scuff and off to the Ft. Worth PSC it went!

Oh jeez Tony. Well we learn from our mistakes, that's what makes the world go round. Well, think of it this way, you were going to send it to RSC anyway lol!

I am guessing its only waterproof to 4000 feet now?

I recall reading that the glass cracked on the porthole on the Trieste on its record breaking dive But that was for a different reason

You're the man. I can respect that you at least tried. Most wouldn't have had the stones to do that.

I noticed the second hand was moving in your pics....shouldn't you pull out the crown JIC?

Good luck with the repair. In a few months it'll be back to life again, better than ever.
