I don'y know if we "have" to call them what Rolex does but I do believe if you send one into RSC with a non-Rolex nickname the technicians will confiscate the aftermarket name and return it with it's original name.

"Luxury" and "Sport" are two words that are not necessarily mutually exclusive in my world...
A lot of my sports kit is also very luxurious. That may be because it gives me a performance edge but, more likely, I just get more pleasure from using nice things... I can't go into any detail about the items I own that fall most obviously into the Luxury/Sport category but, sufficient to say, they are made to very exacting standard, finished to look beautiful and perform extremely well even if that performance is not significantly better than a lower end competitor...

To me a "sports watch" is a somewhat generic term. I don't know if there is a precise definition, but as others have suggested, watches with a functional bezel is a good start.
Just because a watch is expensive and a luxury for most, doesn't mean it can't be a sports watch. Simililar to how some luxury cars are also sports cars. |

Great discussion here.. Thanks for all of your remarks.
Many valid points.. I only saw one example of Rolex actually calling a sports model and that is the "Brown Bear Sport". BrownBear must have watch.... I guess we can call our watches anything we want and those names can be applied with whatever activity we are doing. Someone wears their Cellini while biking, they can call it a sport watch. Someone wears their Sub to a black tie affair, they can call it a dress watch.. None of this is actually official but I do enjoy the discussion. |

A watch is whatever you use it for, so long as it will hold up under the stresses of whatever that is.
