That would be a tough choice for me, as I really like both. These are the two models I most want...won't be in a position to do anything for a year or so, so at least there's no pressure. In the end I guess you have to put them on your wrist and see which one sings to you the most.

I think the DJII with the fluted bezel is one of if not the most versatile watch around. It is completely appropriate with in a suit or black tie (on a nice black croc strap or something) and also surprisingly doesn't look out of place with a pair of decent shorts and a polo or clean T-shirt. I remember my early opinions of the DJII that it was strictly a dress watch and since I'm in a suit or tux once a year max I didn't need one. I distinctly remember the situation in which that whole mindset changed. Disney World 2010, Magic Kingdom, walking down the main street a guy in a plain white T and a pair of print fabric shorts wearing a rhodium arabic dial with fluted bezel walked by gathering one of his small children. With small children myself I first commiserated in my head with him for having to chase his children around exasperated. THEN, I noticed he was wearing a DJII and I did like a triple take at how completely appropriate that looked. It actually looked pretty casual, yet informed and I knew then that at one point the DJII had to be in the collection. It took me about 2 years or so to finally bring one in and after having 2 Milgauss I'm really hoping I'm just as enamored with how it looks and versatility that I don't need to flip it. Milgauss is pretty much either a completely shorts and t-shirt watch or a Science teacher/lab rat watch. I wore the black dial with a suit to a wedding once and while from 10 feet it looks appropriate when you really get a look at it looks far too casual to be paired with a suit even with the polished center links. i think you actually chose DJII, a decision I completely agree with, but just in case anyone else is stuck like I was with this decision here is my informed opinion.

Go for the Milgauss GV both as sport and dress watch. Take it from Daniel :)

I remember going through this. I will always have a special place in my heat for the Milgauss, the DJII won out simply because the date function made it more practical.

Very tough choice, both are similar and equally beautiful.
I would not get a DJ with the fluted bezel, I like the smooth variety myself... Both are nice.. You can't lose really.... |

Both are classy in their own rights!
Green Milgauss & Green Edged Romans DJII! Both A great combo... If I had to do without one... the GV would have to go.

Personally if say get the Milgauss GV. But seeing as your previous was a DJ you probably got very used to seeing a date there. I have the Milgauss and now the Daytona and I know every time I want to check for the date I look at my wrist and feel a pang of annoyance that I can't tell the date immediately. If you only can chose one go with what you're used to. If you can live with the adjustment the GV is gorgeous.
Lol after posting realized you went for the DJII so this is my two bits about it. Enjoy lol.

On the other hand, the lightning bolt and the green glass were pretty cool, too. It took me a couple of visits to the AD to finally decide on the GV. When I went to pick up the GV I was still not 100% sure I had made the right decision. A year later, I am glad I got the GV.

I would choose the Milgauss.
Or the Explorer 1.
