Any idea where the other 9,970 LVs for sale are?

this is true there are not 10k LVs for sale, prob a few dozen advertised on forums and ebay as you stated. Also note that the asking prices are in the 6-7k range on ebay. However if you do a search of "completed listings" you will see they are usually being sold in the 5s. I saw two about a month ago go for low 5s. Some also get hit in the 6s as well.

You have to discount half the eBay ones as they are sold by less than stellar shops that have polished the heck out of the case and bracelet, they are sold without papers, sometimes not correct box etc. I wouldn't touch most of those with a 10 foot pole.

But as I said previously, it was never really a rare watch, but if you compare with a regular Sub 16610 or a GMT 16710.

Regardless, prices has sky rocketed in the last 12 months.

Amazingly enough I find the 16610LV to be both more comfortable to wear on my wrist and meaningfully more legible with the maxi dial and hands, so it is a double win for me. SD has now left my rotation/collection.

Legibility and slim case are its first particularities: half old model (light and balanced), half new one (lume).

Then comes the green MAT insert, which adds a lot of contrast. The colour touh is so small that it is perfect with a suit (I am a lawyer). A real "50th anniversary" model, very special for those little things. My only rolex.

That is exactly how I feel. Great image.

I could happily make this one my only Rolex, and I'm not saying that on a whim, I've owned quite a few of them! :-)

hi great pic. i dont agree with your...half old model... "half new one (lume) description of the lv. i would say that the..."half new model (lume) is from the lv maxi dial and not the other way round.

imagine if they had only done the 50th aniversary as a 50th aniversary ,,, instead of the 51st 52nd 53rd etc ,,,

oh please. give it up. The design was to celebrate the 50th aniversary. Thats it Thats all. Whether it was purchased in the 1st 5th or 7th year its still MODEL # 16610LV

People just cant accept the fact that it is indeed much rarer than a regular sub date and commands more on the market

get over it

Frankly I love this picture. The insert color is what I called the olive green variation. It is the lightest of the green inserts and my personal favorite. We can see slight chamfer as this is really the last model along with the 14060M to still have it. I just really like your LV, especially the insert color. All but of mine, a M serial, have deep green colors, and for some odd reason I just prefer the lighter green tone. Great picture!

I agree that the light or slightly warmer less punchy green in this photo is the most attractive. Still the shades of green on the original LV are more attractive than what Rolex selected for the SubC IMO.

Up to you what sings the most. I flipped my SD 16600 after I truly understood the beauty of the 16610LV.

I would NOT give up the 16760. If you like it, keep it and add the LV later. They'll still be around. ;-)

such a great classic reference, has the classic dna with the modern maxi markers/rich green bezel that the lvc cannot produce.

dont get too into the y series, f series, fat four, just get one and enjoy!

The main reason I purchased the 16610LV was because everybody I knew had a black sub. I had my trusty datejust but always wanted a sub. I wanted to be different so I purchased the 16610lv. I was hesitant at first, but the color really grew on me after I started wearing it. I have never seen another one out in the wild yet. I do however see the black 16610 subs all the time. I like being different in my own way. I also like wearing my PAM 111 and not having anybody recognize it. I am able to wear and appreciate it without any of the criticism.

Honestly don't see why the demand has gone up for these now.

Back in the day they weren't selling well at all. It's sort of the whole "tell people they can't have it and they want it" thing.

Personally I don't like it because the dial and bezel don't look right together to me. I know green and black are "matching" colours but it just doesn't look right to me.

I just dropped $7,420. Canadian plus tax, list price on a BNIB 16610LV, V serial from an AD.

Don't give a rats ass about collectability, F serial, Y serial, future value, fonts, flat 4. mark this mark that, flame suit on.

Bought it because I love it, and intend to wear it to death, mine literally.

No offence to the rare breed of collectors that are into the minutiae of all the above.

Imo member karmatp said it best; "I miss the days when people purchased a watch and wore the heck out of it and did not put a monitary value on it or investment twist"

Beautiful watch, crappy picture.
