x2 a cashier's check is issued by a financial institution, not by a sporting goods store. However, even if the check was issued by a bank, there are lots of counterfeits! Modern printers do miracles. Sorry for your loss, but you were too trusting.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Just wondering why your wouldn't take a bank wire or cash for the transaction if there was a face to face meeting involved.
