I tend to say yes. 42mm would be perfect.

40mm is good for the sub, some of us can barely pull that off.

Personally I moved away from Rolex because of the 40mm size. I gave the wifey my 40mm yacht master to wear which I think looks hot on a female.

I have now just ordered a 41mm DJII because it actually looks like a 42mm watch.

It is all opinion, I think if it looks good and you like it then wear it. I also own 48mm Breitling Bentely's which I love to death.

To each his own...

Go back to Rolex. That MONSTER is too big for your wrist!
Why are you posting on the Rolex forum by the way since you've moved away from Rolex?

i think when the world gets over stallone's 60mm pam, or arnold's 47mm solid gold AP, things will slowly trickle back to 40mm being a normal size again without the occasional 'is 40mm too small' question

I guess in your lack of reading you missed the part about me just ordering the 41mm DJII.

41+ mm cases are history. That fad has come and gone. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a washed up governor and a has-been actor. Enough already!

Seriously, though, thin, appropriately sized watches have been the hip thing for a while. I sense that the mainstream will be headed in that direction shortly.

Uh yeah sure, that is why Rolex now has

41mm DJII
41mm DDII
42mm Explorer II
44mm DSSD

41mm cases are sure history...just ask rolex which model gets resized next.

^^Rolex was late to the big case party. Historically, they are slow to change, and I think they are still growing into their new identity as a purveyor of "luxe" jewelry items. Besides, you are quoting the part of my post that was in jest, Mr Oh-So-Serious.

42 to 44 would sell big time in my opinion. Sorry larger watches aren't a fad, there is plenty of space in the watch world for both. I'd say the younger generation doesn't think of 42 to 44 as "large" but rather "normal".

There is no perfect size and it always bothers me when people proclaim that 40mm is perfect.

It's relative to wrist size. Yes, a 40mm watch looks great on a 6.5 inch wrist. Not so much on 7.5 or higher.

My wrist is 7.5 and 40mm is a bit too small. I don't think it will happen, but I would love to see the majority of rolex watches go to 42mm. Of course that's just me and that reasoning is selfish but it's the same as people with smaller wrists saying that 40mm is perfect.

I'm not sure those subdials could be more poorly placed - that's what happens when you fit a 35mm movement into a 50mm case.
