got my first Rolex,an Explorer2 when I was 31, px'd it for a Submariner 4 years later then in 1999 I px'd it for the one I have now a two colour GMT Master.

A starting salary of an engineer is somewhere between 50-60K. A Rolex for under $10K does not seem like a big deal if you're young and have no family :)
