30. SS datejust on an oyster.

Almost 11 Years ago. You could still do an in house payment plan with a jeweler back then, if you knew them.

Some folks here bought their first at a very young age.

I was in 9th grade but dad wouldn't let me wear it to school. I was able to wear it when I went to college.

Wow - I thought I was young at 29 getting my first Rolex... Never would've guessed at above avg. / older than avg. as Bo has shown...

Not sure I would've taken good enough care of one any younger than 20/21...

got my first Rolex,an Explorer2 when I was 31, px'd it for a Submariner 4 years later then in 1999 I px'd it for the one I have now a two colour GMT Master.

A starting salary of an engineer is somewhere between 50-60K. A Rolex for under $10K does not seem like a big deal if you're young and have no family :)
