I do not think that wearing a certain type of a watch or driving the hottest car in the city matters as much as how you carry and present yourself. A nice Citizen or Seiko watch is still a nice watch. Polished shoes are always polished shoes. A black suit that fits you well will always be in style.
If you don't have style and if you cannot carry yourself with confidence, then no Rolex will save you. |

I certainly don't see it as my obligation to 'correct' the premise of this thread. The reality is, some folks believe that 'props' help w/the women. Indeed, there is evidence to support this notion. Right or wrong aside, he has every right to his opinion, just as we have the right to disagree. Pulling things into negative territory, however, is unnecessary IMO.

Pat, you're right in opining that whatever this fellow's shortcomings are and how he compensates for them are his own problem. However, his generalisations are a slur on women, and we really have no space for that kind of thing here.

I personally think it's the constant aroma of scotch, cigars, golf, and dead fish emanating from my person that knocks the girls out!

Does it knock 'em out figuratively or literally?

Ok, I realize I'm in the minority here but... I guess the point I'm trying to make is... if my neighbor decides to paint his house 'Jolly Green Giant' green w/Fuchsia trim, I certainly have the right to dislike it. To call him stupid for having done so, is a horse of another feather. Nuff said...

"Let's not kid ourselves, everything a man has or does has something to do with getting a woman". Thanks for backing up what I said with your post. Gendanken can take his "Franfurt Finger's Theory" and stick it.........................some place! You wasted your money on that sociology degree. It would have been cheaper to use common sense. |

Your seatmate from the short yellow bus echoes your unfounded, screwed-up view of the world and that's supposed to be proof positive that you're right? Don't go using the phrase "common sense" when you obviously don't know what it means - it'll make you look even dumber than you already do. You get called on talking out of turn about things you know jack squat about, throw your toys out of the pram and then talk like you have all right to pronounce what's right and wrong? Don't go using the phrase "common sense" when you obviously don't know what it means - it'll make you look even dumber than you already do. Walked right into that one didn't you, sport? Well, you can take your little-weenie issues somewhere else because it's got no place here. Buh-bye!

No doubt .. you and the other mods have your work cut out. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to borrow your "toys thrown out of the pram" and use it in the future.

You should see me when I'm annoyed. My more charitable friends say I have the charming demeanour of a rhinocerous with a bad case of piles.

I think need to change my shorts as I might have pissed myself laughing so hard. That was GREAT! Note to self, don't get in a verbal sparring match with Ged! By the way, I agreed completely with your comments. Another turd for the pooper scooper!

Men of questionable character buy a watch to "get the ladies." If you really want to "get the ladies" with material goods, the most guaranteed way is to buy them for her.
Which is the fundamental difference between what poor, banned Kris was arguing and what our misguided OP has in mind. It's one thing to think that if you get just the right car/jeans/watch the hot girl will smile at you. It's entirely another thing to think that same girl will talk to you if you buy the watch/earrings/car FOR HER. Neither method is appropriate. Both are common. At least if you buy the watch for yourself, you still have it when you discover the girl is a gold-digging B!t@#. |

Amen. Too bad some guys just can't see past their own deficiencies to understand that.

Trust me on this one, I speak from experience - if you want to get the ladies, forget about wearing a Rolex, instead learn how to make cheesecake and tiramisu

All I can say is that; once I started helping around the house and saying (and meaning) nice things like "honey I really appreciate all your hard work ...what can I do to help"......I am the one saying "you want to do it again". I am a happy fellow. Wish I would have gotten my head out of my six 20 years ago. Good for you Gerry!

You don't need a watch to get lucky, just make them laugh & pretend to be interested in the garbage they come out with

I hooked up with a high-school crush of mine late last year...It was like having a date with your dream pin-up! I had always held a torch for her :) Anyway it was one night, and it peetered out. I dunno exactly why she seemed to lose interest. Years had passed, she was a mother of 2 and she was going through a divorce (maybe that was it?!), and here I was pulling a stud.
Anyway that was then...I was'nt as stable as I am now. I was driving a POS car and was working my a$$ off. Fast forward to w few weeks back when I saw her again, just bumped into her. I had a much better car and my GMT IIc on my wrist. Not sure if she noticed, I think she did. I'd have wanted her to notice. Just my rant..
