As showed by the following picture, you can't change only the end links. As you have SEL on this bracelet, you'll have to order and replace part "32-20871" composed of 4 links and the SEL. It probably cost a lot, you need 2 of them. Sourcing a replacement bracelet would be a better idea, I think (it's 1350us$ brand new from Rolex). |

It's taken the shine off what should be a really pleasant event, I’d take a refund & start again a little wiser for the experience

Take up the seller on his offer to accept return of the watch, and move on.

he's offered to take it back, which is great and the right way to go about this. so, what else do you want? you want to keep the watch and have him refund a portion to cover the repair/replacement?

I don't see big problem either: Return watch and get full refund as seller stated. Again you are buying a 10 year old watch not a new watch. Best of luck and am sure you will work it out.

Ditto. No sure what you're expecting from the seller apart from this. Get your money back and move on to the next. Explorer's similar era to the one you have can easily be found at what you paid.

looks to me that the bracelet was originally for a watch with lug holes and the slots in the end links were cut in to make it fit a non lug hole case.

Return it. It will always taint the way you feel about the watch. There are better ones out there.

I am a little weird about these things so my advice may also be weird. To me the fun and enjoyment of the "hunt" and then opening that box is part of the whole process. If you start out with such a bad taste then it diminishes the whole watch. They might be able to get you new parts or polish the damage etc but for me I will always know the watch was hacked. I must believe that the former owner had no idea how to take care of a Rolex and I would go crazy wondering if they abused it over its life.
I would send it back and look for another one. It should not be hard to find a great one if you are patient. Best of luck to you!

Some educations are cheaper than others.
I would eat the shipping costs and start over on a fresh sheet. The hassle to date would flavour the watch in a poor light to me. Good luck. |

I think the price you paid was reasonable for a "like new" example. I think the damage demonstrated makes this NOT "like new". If I'd gone for "like new", which I rarely do, I would be disappointed and would return the item: it didn't meet expectations. You have dozens of opinions that the damage is outside of "normal" wear and tear, ask the seller to split shipping at least, based on the strength of your photos. This is not a "return for any reason", this is a "return because seller made a MISTAKE in describing".

Send it back. What's with all the soul searching? You paid top dollar for a pristine watch that turned out to be far from mint, near mint, or LNIB. The dealer offered to take it back. What more would you like?

As far as the overall condition, let's say that because of the lack of stretch, etc. and that the watch is otherwise pristine, it deserves an overall "like new" condition. Does anyone agree that this is possible? Even if it is, shouldn't the end links be disclosed?? I think that the ad was a material misrepresentation because it didn't disclose the end link damage. I think it was an accident. I need to be made whole. Last edited by bradiowausa; 29 September 2013 at 04:01 AM.. Reason: grammar |

Wait, your going on at this point for $25? It sounds like all was made right, seller paid for return shipping and all. Personally I think your now taking it too far. It was a bad situation for all and he took it back for a full return. For the price a burger and a beer, let it go.

Wasn't the choice of a bank wire yours? Or did the dealer not accept checks, money orders or credit cards?

You have had a good result. I think you need to accept the $25 wire fee and move on now. It could have been a lot worse.

Agree with all the previous posts. You are not happy. Watch is not like new. Dealer has offered to take it back. Return it for refund. Problem solved!

Glad you're sending it back and getting your money back. Now the fun begins in the hunt to acquire one in the condition you want. Good luck.
Cheers |
