Why make a lebron is it based at the american market, surely this watch will not be popular in Europe or Asia
I knew of AP
but there Golf tennis ambassador's for me cement the values of AP and a luxury brand and as i play golf, sort natural progression to go out and buy one
Theres no LE from a golfer/ tennis of AP and appeal to much wider audience
Dont as a brand think that celebs sell watches or a sportsman linked with a sport ingrained in the US unless its only really for that market
Quality design traditions make a luxury brand

i dont know if i totally understand where people are coming from, based on comments like 'dragging the brand down', etc...

i dont have an AP yet...i have several rolex watches that i love...the fact that they make some truly hideous, over-the-top monstrosities that i cant even imagine the intended market for doesnt make me love my sub, gmt II, etc. any less.

i dont were the watches because of the image of the brand but because i love the watches. as long as AP continues to make models that DO appeal, isnt that the most imperative thing?

I think the reason people are saying it's dragging the brand down, which by the way I totally agree
with, is because they keep putting out different LE monstrosities, while claiming to be haute
horology! Sure rolex has made some things I'd never wear, but I never see limited editions of the
sub come out, larger, and uglier, year after year. But rolex isnt haute horology. I love ap, I really want a ro, but they are IMO
tarnishing their brand. Do you see this happening with any of the others? Pp, vc, jlc and so many others? If ALS ever puts out the LE Michael phelps datograph, what would you think they were doing?

i get that, but so what?

does it make otherwise aethetically pleasing watches uglier? does it make the movements on their other watches less intricate or attractive?

i mean, i guess one could argue maybe dollars that would otherwise be spent on R&D now gets misallocated to development of unattractive watches or to subsidize large, unecessary endorsement contracts but that doesnt seem to be the main argument.

im not trying to be contrarian just sort of curious. for example, if i wanted to get a traditional RO, no matter how many LBJ's they made, i would still be attracted to that old, traditional RO.

but maybe at this price point or at this level of watchmaking the optics of the brand does matter in peoples' minds. i guess i would just be happy, provided they kept making something i did like.

I'm sure the customers for this model are not interested in haute horlogerie

Just saw press pics... like I said before, it screams for Schumi bezel with bigger/outside screws... and there is no enough contrast between tapiseree and dial numbers so gold arabic numbers dont stand out...

I like it. I like the color combination. I like the fact that it does not use the normal plots to connect the strap. I like the use of the larger arabic numerals as I can see the point is to make it a bit more sporty. I don't need the diamonds but don't mind them. The only thing I would of liked to see is the larger screws like in the F1 inspired pieces (RB2, Schumi, etc), but i guess that design feature is reserved for racing inspired watches.

Overall, nice looking piece and I bet more and more people will agree once they start seeing the piece in the flesh.

Putting down my order now!

I guess AP employed Thierry Nataf as their new CEO. Equally hideous pieces.

I really miss Schumi/Rubens/GT style screws on bezel, and dont understand why they exclude AP logo as there is more then enough space...

and cant belive they put the pic with wrong screw placement on website and press pics... very amateur from them...

The real life pictures looks a bit better than the press pics. Think might actually look cool with a dark brown or black strap.

I actually like it! I have no problem with the colour combo, it should be looking good in real life. I believe the notch case will make the 44mm very wearable on smaller wrists. Now there's a prospect of using the Nato style Kevlar strap on a 44mm ROO. The big Arabic indices are rather enticing too. My only gripes is that cermet should have been used for the bezel.

Looks okay.

I remember the CEO saying from an interview a few months back that AP was shifting marketing strategies and reducing the model numbers.

And now the LE LBJ?

A little confused....

I genuinely hope they will reduce the number of LE's. I feel AP can survive without famous people special editions. They should invest these funds into R&D to come up with new things rather than hoping to get income from the same movement in a different case. (I'm not saying AP is not innovative but I just feel that would give more added value to the brand)
