When I purchased my first Rolex, a SD 16600, a buddy of mine told me about Timezone, where he was a member and told me I could learn more about my watch. I joined TZ and learned about modern & vintage Rolex and thought that there had to be other sites that were similar. When I first joined, TRF did not have a lot of members, so the site was not very active....as things picked up I found that I liked TRF more. It was much more relaxed & fun than some other sites. Soon I found myself not going back to the "other" sites.

So to answer your question, I first came for knowledge, then stayed because I was passionate about the brand and I enjoyed talking with others who shared the same hobby as me.

Echoing what many have already said, mainly to learn and share. Where else would I go to learn the difference between a 5512 Sub and a 5513 or what a barked bezel is?

I've also bought both watches (16234, Speedy Snoopy) and accessories (watch straps, end links) with a higher degree of confidence than I ever could have from another source like flea-bay.

It's also nice to interact with like-minded people who would never think of asking "Why would you spend so much money on a watch? I just look at my cell phone for the time."

Curiously though, many of us will say you don't need a date function for the exact same reason.

To see and read reviews on other Rolex watches that I was interested in. Turns out this forum should come with a disclaimer! I've bought too many Rolexes because of this forum!

I am new in the world of Rolex (was a panerai fan before) and hope to learn a lot here and also meet new friends from all over the world (or even in Belgium, since i have no idea if there are vintage rolex fans in Belgium).

Still have a long way to go and hope to get a first vintage rolex soon :-).

I come for information and friendly help; both here in abundance.

I come to look at the watch porn.

I come to steal ideas for stories and blog posts.

Oh and I like watches.
