Update.

Got a message from Michael Young last night. He received my bracelet. It took exactly a week to get there. Unfortunately, he said because of man power and load, it could take longer than 10 weeks to get my bracelet back.
He asked me to be patient. With the heads up I got here, I was prepared to be patient.

My next installment will be, if there is a problem, or when he is ready to be paid.
This thread will show my timeline for this repair.
IN the next week or so I will be telling you who is paying for this.

Bill aka ET

Glad you're still with us, Bill (in every sense of the word!).

Best of luck with the bracelet as well as your health!

He quoted me 8-10 weeks and got it back to me in 2. Hope you are lucky as well.

if its a few weeks that fine if it takes longer than 10 weeks Im ok with that.
Question !
When he told you it would take ten weeks, did he make any mention of there being a heavy work load at this time or that he was man power short?

The reason I ask is because he went into too much detail. Ive heard other say he says 8 to ten weeks, as a generic response to the time line for everyone.

But he specifically said the work load was high and he was short on manpower.

Here is a cut and paste of his email:

We have already received your parcel & put in the queue and normally takes 8-10 weeks. But since we are limited in manpower there might be some delays if there is a tricky project in between, please be a little patient.

Thanks Pete, that seems to be word for word other then he said he went to the post office that morning and picked up my package . right down to the tricky project and please be a little patient. So it could be quicker than 2 months.

from Michael:
Hi there:
Just went to the post office and picked up your band. I have already put it in the queue and normally takes 8-10 weeks. But since we are limited in manpower there might be some delays if there is a tricky project in between, please be a little patient.
I shall email you once it is ready, and payment via paypal shall be requested then.

Have a nice one.
Cheers,
Michael Young

As Promised...... Update

I sent my bracelet to Michael on Feb 18th from S. E. Pennsylvania
He received it in Hong Kong on Feb 25th ( seven days in transit via USPS )
He just emailed me it is done on March 6th ( 9 days to fix )
He also told me he has increased his workforce to handle the ever increasing work load.
I expect to get it in a week or less. ( so from door to door about three weeks. )

Will show photos when I receive the bracelet
Bill.

hi bill i was going to suggest using a nato strap but i see from your pics that you have the use of a temporary metal bracelet.

Yes, this bracelet I bought is a high quality replica style, not a knock off. Many people wear a bracelet like this and keep their original in the box. The replica is high quality but it does not have any reference to Rolex on it. but the links and end link are exactly the same. Its tight but does not have the weight of the original. I will probably put the original back on when I get it from Michael. The watch is going to my son, down the road a piece. I think he will want me to have worn the bracelet before I give it to him. Although I've worn this bracelet for 7 years.

I posted this is another thread but Ill post it here two because this is My thread, with all the latest details.
My hope is that my experience with Rolex and Michael has been documented in one place, so others can benefit by it.
Bill

Just some added input. Yesterday Michael notified me that my bracelet was done. 3/6/2014
I sent it on 2/18/2014 17 days total
This morning 3/7 Michael sent me tracking, and at this moment its " IN the air " heading to me with a promised delivery on Mon 3/10/2014 before 10:00 AM.
So put in the mail 2/18, returned to me on 3/10, a total of 20 days round trip
2 weeks /6 days.... 16,200 miles. 38 hours in the air.

Photos to follow

It's an interesting thread to read as I await the return of my watch from RSC NY. Is the bracelet response by RSC the same for all the RSCs? If MY can rebuild bracelets why won't Rolex? It seems like there should be limits that they could apply for rebuild based on how much metal loss their is in the bracelet (I assume that is the issue). Even a scale could determine whether or not it could be successfully rebuilt. At any rate, thanks for the thread.

Rolex would rather sell you a SS bracelet for 1050 dollars then fix your bracelet like they use to do.
Or sell you a gold one for 5000 dollars.
If some guy 8200 miles away can fix these bracelets daily, then so can Rolex, they use to do it, now they seems to want to ram a new everything down your throat. I sent my watch in and they wanted to sell me 5700 worth of recommended parts. that alone should tell you something. When I called about my bracelet not being polished he blew me off saying it was beyond repair. He said I could turn in my destroyed bracelet and they would give me a " Generous trade in" and it would only cost me 1050 dollars for a New bracelet but I had to send them my bracelet first.
Bill
If you saw my before pictures, before I sent my watch to RSCNY you would see it was far from destroyed, it was so destroyed MY fixed it quickly and easily with no issue.

AS this saga winds down, I want people to know that I made Rolex Pay Michael Young for the repair, because they failed to live up to their "Servicing your Rolex Overview " Rolex paid me directly 250.00 for their lack of attention to my bracelet and I held them to their repair overview and all that it encompasses.

Bill I agree with you 100%. If you felt that you were wronged, go after them and hope they make it right.

Don't let a few d bags who think they know everything cuz they hang $5000+ on their wrists and they are now experts and opinionated!

Good luck with your mission and really hope it works out for you

Glad to see you're sticking around TRF Sometimes posters get a hard time but more often than not everybody feels the love.........

I hope the fact that Rolex agreed to compensate you $250. USD for a repair that was not pre-authorized by a 3rd party will show you they are being reasonable. I would never expect any company to go that extra mile. I work at a Fortune 100 company and going outside our procedures means we are done paying, so I tip my hat to Rolex for that gesture.

I applaud you for your persistence, but I see reasons to give Rolex some credit here. About $250 worth of credit.

WOW you tip your hat to ROLEX ???? That's what you got out of all this? I give them no credit.. AT all, I had to strong arm them and even after that, there was no apology for their terrible treatment on the phone and their unethical ploy to try to get me to buy a NEW bracelet, calling it unrepairable., I had them over a legal barrel, and they could not wiggle out. Its funny how the crappy treatment they gave me, some how gets smoothed over here, even as detailed as my Saga has been, Rolex did nothing for me.. I took what I had to take under the law. They were forced to pay.

Glad this has all worked out for you in the end. It's very unfortunate that you have had to go to so much trouble and your experience with RSC doesn't seem acceptable to me.

I look forward to seeing the post MY pics. All the best.

I see others with similar complaints, and my point to "ALL" of this is consider twice before sending your watch to RSC NY. I would much rather see you contact Rikki here, he's authorized, credible, faster and much more friendly on the phone so I am told. I've yet to hear one bad thing about his work. I wont be around for the next service but I've already told my son where to get my/soon to be his Rolex fixed.

Bill, your saga is truly an indication of a mess made by Rolex and I am sorry you went through it and I hope they are more clear in the future to other customers etc etc etc - BUT they gave you money to fix something outside their own shop - and without prior written authorization -that's unheard of in the business world ! So YES to that I tip my hat to Rolex! Dude they are trying hard to placate you 'after the fact'. Throw them a bone, you got $250 off a big bad multi-national corporation for work by others.
