Yes Rolex QC issues occur far less than with most other brands and besides Rolex probably couldn't care less about your complaint, lots of posts here about poor after service from them, and things won't change while they almost completely monopolise the luxury watch market.

I've broken off dial feet before so I can see it happening.

So have I and I've seen people bringing watches in and noticing that the feet were already broken. Those feet are pretty thin and no matter who makes them they can always break.

To the OP, glad to know you got another watch that is fine and I wish you to enjoy it.

Would you laser weld them back on?

If anything, I'd write a letter supporting the AD's exemplary level of service, fully accepting the responsibility and making you whole, all without much fuss, from what you describe.

Many tales of dissatisfaction with Rolex over minor items, much less a defective watch and replacement.

It's not done with a laser but a machine made especially for that. A brass stem will be soldered down on the dial using tin and an electric current to heat it.

The machine we use is different but I think it works more or less the same way as this one.

Good news is, when a foot (or both feet) break it usually stay in its hole as they're held by small screws or other kind of pins, therefore a foot being loose in a movement is something that only happens rarely.

It's a bit odd. If the watch was on warranty why wouldn't the AD just send it back to Rolex and get it taken care of? Oh well, if you're happy with it you're happy!

I thought as much but didn't know if soldering would damage the dial face due to the high thermal conductivity of brass.

It's one of the things with which I did have a hard time at school. Indeed, if heated for too long it can burn the dial so one has to be careful when working with this machine. However, after gaining a bit of experience you can manage to solder those feet without leaving a trace.

Watch face slipped

The exact same has happened to mine. Had it on all day with no problems and at the dinner table I noticed it had slipped. Bought it in October 2012 and taking it back to the shop today

It's a "Philippe Starck" limited edition. Don't fix it. Super collectible.

Yikes! That's pretty extreme.

Does anyone know, are all Rolex faces/dials mounted the same way or is the submariner weaker in anyway?

If you want comments on this you should really start a new thread, otherwise most people will be talking to the guy who started this one in February last year. People tend to skip to the end without checking the date.
