I am so glad I work in a field where interviews take a huge backseat to qualifications. I guess I went into medicine because I just don't get the business world. I've seen millionaire surgeons wear Casios and care less what anyone thought or felt about it.

Actually it will make me feel good wearing my Rolex. I would definitely wear it, and it will naturally disappear under my shirt sleeve.

Hey guys,
I just had my interview and i would like to share my story with you! So i went into the interview (15 mins early :p). Soon after i sat down with the guy i saw him glance at my watch but he did not say anything. I noticed he had a Breitling Navitimer :) Towards the end of the interview he asked me if i was wearing a Submariner, which in turn, i confirmed and he told me how much he loves them and is looking to get a Subc LV (Hulk) ! We struck up a very friendly conversation and it seemed to work in my favour as i was applying to a sales role and I naturally pitched the Rolex submariner to him! He seemed impressed and i told him i would send him info on the watch and where to pick one up for a good discount! So the conclusion to this story is that wearing the Sub C worked in my favour and he too was a watch enthusiast and it lead to a good conversation! Thanks! Monaldo88 116610LN |

This might sound like a joke, but it's not: it's more important to wear the appropriate shoes and matching socks.

I have found that interviews have a lot to do with making sure personalities will be a good match. I know when I have interviewed people, qualifications are important, but if I am going to spend 9 hours a day with someone, I better be able to get along with them. Sharing a personal interest is a great start. Just remember, you don't have to take their first offer...I have been in finance over 15 years now and wish I had learned that lesson earlier. You don't have to be greedy, but get paid what you are worth.

I'm sure you didn't get the interview because of the watch you wear... Who cares what you wear, just be yourself. After all that's how you got the interview....

You are wearing a watch to a job interview, which is appropriate...it just happens to be a Rolex...no big deal...

Wear it. It made absoutely no difference for my present or previous job and I wore my watch. For the most part it remained hidden anyways as I was wearing a suit.
Edit: Saw that you had the interview and struck up a conversation on watches!! Good luck and hope you get some good news. |

Who cares if you struck up a watch rapport during an interview, if you didn't get the job.

I know the OP has made the decision, but I will throw in my 2 shekels. I interview a lot of people, and the worst thing they can do is distract themselves or distract ME. The safest bet is to have a thin, understated dress watch to wear with a suit.
Also, If I see their cell phone at any time during the process, the interview will end early. Leave it in the car. |

Because you are already thinking about it, I would say leave it at home. I just had two interviews this week to seal the deal with my new job, left the Rolex at home because I did not want to worry about how others might interpret the watch or what having a Rolex means. Turns out I did the right thing because all I could do was focus on being confident, making eye contact, shaking hands firmly, having fun, and being myself. Landed the job, best of luck with your job interview.

I agree with Cru. Think first about your comfort level. That's most important in the interview.
other option is your wear it there, and before the interview, you get a sense to wear or not and pop it in your pocket (if you think it is too much) |

I'm really confused why everyone thinks wearing a rolex to an interview is such a big deal. I'm glad you wore it but there probably should have been more important things to be concerned with rather than the manufacturer of the watch you're wearing.
