I don't try to deliberately irritate my wife off and as she has excellent taste and a keen color eye, I rely on her opinion for many color decisions.

Having said that, she has her own opinions about watch sizes and we don't always see eye-to-eye. She has invaluable insights as to what looks 'classy' so I like to see what she has to say.

Do I have pieces that she isn't crazy about? Yes. Does she cut me off if I wear a piece she doesn't like?

You are lucky. My wife can spot a fake Hermes handbag at 100 meters, and knows how to spend money. Fortunately, she had a high paying job prior to retirement.

Not really. She is an amazing and loving woman, but when it comes to watches and menswear (suits and ties), her opinion and my opinion are often quite the opposite. She does not like YG or RG and to me, those two types of precious metals, especially the YG is what a classic, iconic Rolex should have. To her, the YG is an "old man's" watch, which I completely disagree. She will most likely roll her eyes when I bring home my DD 118238 in the future.

I'll probably switch to that rule once married

For now, my gf would never actually try to stop me from buying a watch. But if I buy one without telling her, she thinks I'm not sharing my hobby with her.

Flip side is I have to pretend to be interested in all the shoes and handbags she wants.

I am blessed with a wife that encourages any watch that makes my eyes light up. Her response is usually .." That's why we work, can't take it with us"
She also has a good eye and great taste.......I love her !!!!!!!

I don't help her pick out a purse and she doesn't help me choose a watch.

I always ask my gf's opinion, and I definitely value it. The only watch I bought she doesn't like was the LVC. She doesn't comment negatively because she's happy if I'm happy.

But she was right about the LVC, got tired of it kind of quick.

Now I realise I am keeping it for me, don't care who doesn't like it

Very sensitive at my house. After putting up with the habit for years she decides to buy me a watch for 30th anniversary. Ends up getting me a beautiful IWC Portofino. Which I sort of liked but it never really clicked. After a week she asked me why I was not wearing it and I just sort of did not know what to say. She insisted I return it and i ended up with a BLNR instead. She does not like it as well but figures why have that amount of cash into something I might wear once a month. I think we are both good. I still consider it the watch representing 30 years do partnership. Am I wrong??

Haha, I know right. It's been gone for almost 10 months now.

At this point, it's a mix of wanting people to recognize my posts by my pic, and general laziness.

My wife doesn't really care about my watch purchases. We both work, and we both have our own money to spend on hobbies.

It seemed like anytime I consulted with my wife about a watch I somehow always ended up feeling a bit blue...... so I don't any more.

Wife doesn't care about watches so she knows not to give advise to me since I do know about watches. Much like I don't give her cosmetic buying advise.

Unfortunately my wife doesn't care at all about watches. I'm not even sure whether she noticed that I replaced the dial on my Daytona from champagne to black or not, and I wear it all the time. Or maybe she noticed and simply couldn't care less.

My wife thinks you'd have to be nuts to spend more than a couple of hundred on a watch - any watch. So I'm hardly going to ask her opinion on a purchase.
Anything that comes out of the family budget however is always discussed as I value her opinion.
