Robin was one of those really 'unique' individuals that comes along once in a generation.
Quite different from anyone else and with a funny craziness all his own.
Very sad to hear this unfortunate news.

RIP Robin, "Dead Poets Society" one of my all time favorites among many more of his films. He will certainly be missed.

This is very, very sad news. Robin Williams is the kind of talent that we are likely never to see again. A couple of weeks ago, I was watching Jumanji and I was thinking what a great guy Robin Williams is.

RIP. You will be dearly missed.

I'm just very torn right now. This one affects me so much more than some of the others. I think because he brought me so much joy and laughter, he was someone very special to most of us. And think, not long ago, his mentor, fellow funnyman, Jonathan Winters, passed. A shame; a true shame.

A truly one of a kind talent. No one else on the planet quite like him.

What a loss.

So sorry for him, for his family and all of us, whose lives he touched more than he knew.

I met him, very briefly, in 1981. It was the Wliiamstown Theater Festival. I was attending a performance of "The Greeks", in which his old Julliard Roomate and lifelong friend, Christopher Reeves, was performing the role of Achilles.

During intermission after Act I, I was mingling with the crowd outside the theater on summer night. There he was, friendly, approachable, humble...

We spoke for just a moment...and just as the intermission ended, suddenly there was a flash of lightning in the Massachusetts sky...

Instantly he smiled and said, "It's time for Act II: The Gods Are Pissed!" With that, he headed back into the theater.

Wit, at the speed of light.

What a loss. Sorry he had to fight such a battle. Sorry he succumbed. May he rest in peace...

A genius....we're the same age, same generation....his vibe was ageless. My heart is a little more broken.

Yes and he is a good man too as I am sure you know. When Christopher Reeve's medical bills were piling up Robin Williams stepped in to help out. Good soul. RIP.

Shazbot! I still fondly recall the first time I saw Robin Williams on TV as Mork from an episode of Happy Days. I always loved watching Mork and Mindy.

I'm saddened to learn of his passing today.

RIP.

Today we lost a truly great artist. Eccentric to say the least, which most great artists are.
Take a moment and you tube Robin Williams academy award acceptance speech and remember the man that was. Rest well RW

I don't usually write in these threads but I will truly miss him. A friend of mine just wrote a nice article on how important he was for our generation here in Hungary. Mork & Mindy was the first American sitcom televised here and we grew up discovering the US with Mork. It was just as new and distant for us as it was for Mork. Farewell, Mr Nanu-Nanu!
