I prefer brushed, but PCLs alone wouldn't stop me from getting a watch I otherwise really liked.

There's really no point in these types of threads, it causes division. Different people like different things, that's life. But we're all here because of what we like not because of what we don't. There's no wrong answer in Rolexes and plenty to choose from, just get the one you like and you can customise the ones you don't, like brushing the links.

I for one love my Rolexes the way they leave the factory, perhaps a rubber b or nylon here and there to mix things up.
This of course does not mean I dislike oyster bracelets because I -$#@*!?- love those too.

I was never a fan when I only owned my sub. Then Rolex brought out the BLNR and the bezel trumped the PCL's so I picked one up. As soon as I had it on my wrist I fell in love with it - especially the PCL's. I am glad I have one of each option now as I love them both.

Agree 100% I just don't like the way they look
Might sound funny but I think they make the watch look cheap

Chris

I totally agree, PCLs just vulgarise the appearance.

I think the PCls absolutely compromise the product integrity of the GMT.

I think Rolex has it right on which models are BCLs vs PCLs.

Not to hijack this thread but have a question, please. Those of you who have had your PCLs brushed, how do the links hold up against scratches? Are they just as resistant to show scratches as original, factory finished BCLs?

PCLs--Our Shiny Friends

My first mechanical watch in almost 30 years was an Invicta 8926 that had polished center links and in time they became scratched and scuffed.

I thought nothing of the PCLs then and now that I own a BLNR, I think nothing of them now.

As far as being flamboyant, that's not the word I'd use. I just think shiny is the word I'd use.

So, I guess I can thank that Invicta for helping me transition from quartz analog back to mechanicals and also to simply accept PCLs for what they are--shiny.

Well, I own a Sub and an Explorer with brushed Oyster bracelets and they certainly aren't any more scratch resistant than the PCL Oyster on my BLNR.

The only models that don't have polished center links now are their dive watches and the Explorers, but what I want is a GMT...just too shiny.
The last thing you would want is to be "Flamboyant" while wearing your "ROLEX" watch...

I love it on the dress watches, but not on any of the sport models. I can't imagine my DJII without the PCL's. I will say they are a pain to maintain and are scratch magnets.

I think they look great, but are a pain. Almost like a Breitling bracelet. If you wear it for 10 minutes its covered in hairlines and looks bad.

I 100% prefer brushed center links on my Rolex sport watches.
The polished center links are fine for my DJ II.
As much as I like the BLNR, the PCLs have keep me from adding one to my collection up to this point in time.

I prefer them brushed. I think it's too shiny and attracts attention.

But that's just me.

I wasn't initially a fan of PCLs, but wearing the BLNR for a year and now a Daytona it's certainly grown on me. Although I will brush my BLNR at some point.
