Personal Opinion: If you are buying a Submariner to make you cool, you missed the point. If you bought it because you love how the bezel is stamped, and placed in an oven at 1500 degrees for precisely the amount of time to harden and shrink it to the right size, then you got the point. If you bought it because the movement was assembled mostly by hand by watchmakers you got the point. Or because your sub was tested exhaustively and certified you got the point. If you bought it because as a time piece, its a work of art and a miracle of assembly and engineering excellence you got the point.

It's not that owning one makes you cool. It's that recognizing excellence compulsed you to buy one and wear it proudly that makes you cool. It's perseverance in your life and career to afford you the right of passage for a Rolex that makes you cool.

My two cents.

You're kidding right?

If you wrote the above comment in response to this thread I'm afraid you missed the point.....

It's tough, elegant, simple but yet complex. You can wear it diving or with a tuxedo. It has at least a 50 year lifespan and denotes ones appreciation for the finer things in life....

Chaps

I wish I hadn't read this thread.

I was sitting with my wife in a small restaurant up in the Spanish mountains and I mentioned this thread to her and suggested that as I was wearing my Sub, I am cool.

She just laughed and told me to get real.

I am not only not cool, I am now deflated.
