"Pan Am" makes much more sense--and has much more significance to the watch.

But that would cause confusion with the GMT master 6542 made for PanAm. Blnr is the best way to refer to the watch

I confess "Batman" annoys me too but I also realize there's absolutely no reason it should considering "Hulk" doesn't bother me at all.
I suppose it's simply because I sort of heard Hulk more organically mentioned whereas I was here to see the nickname Batman come out of a lame "Name the new BLNR" thread here on TRF. So it just seems contrived to me.

Everyone at my AD calls the BLNR the "Bruiser."
I hate it, but I always smile when I hear it. Insofar as Fleming had Bond use his as a "knuckle-duster," we should be glad that there's little consensus regarding just what Rolex Fleming was discussing.

It's just silly forum nonsense. I don't like I the nicknames either, so I just ignore them. Some are worse.

It's all relative though, really. For all I know it could be that "Hulk" also came out of a "Name that watch" thread but if it was I wasn't privy to that. I just heard the term tossed around occasionally in conversation so to me it came about more naturally.

I don't lose any sleep over nicknames or get aggravated by their use but I do find it childish. In the same way, when some TRF members talk about their watches like they are the Crown Jewels I can't help but cringe. Watches are just things and by obsessing over them or giving them baby names my instinct is to cringe. There are such things as healthy obsessions (which we all have with Rolex) and unhealthy ones in which we nitpick over ridiculous aspects of the brand.
