I find it too small but it is one of the most comfortable watches on the market a timeless classic

IMHO, that is my favorite watch size (36mm). Nothing beats it.

Only the wearer can decide if it's "too small" for them. For me, no. I have about a 7.5 inch wrist and love my circa 1991 DJ. I have, wear and love my others too, but never felt the DJ too small. Pictures to compare, I tried to get the same perspective.

If my wife's 116200 didn't have a diamond bezel, I would be proud to wear it :)

36mm is not too small!

My wrist varies between 7.25 and 7.5 and the 36 mm Datejust is just right for me.

Anyone have a 16200 and 116200 side by side? I know both are 36 but look like different sizes.

Its a really comfortable size, with a big dial so it looks bigger than 36mm to me.

I like the DD a lot. It just feels like its not on the wrist and fits very easily under shirts and suits.

For big watches I wear matching cufflinks, the cut helps me help fit big watches into formal wear.

Feels small on my 7 wrist. I wouldn't go below 39mm unless it's a vintage piece.

I wore everything from 34mm Air Kings and Date models to 36mm Datejusts for years until a few months ago.
I bought a DJ "Turn O Graph." After spending so much time with 42mm Speedmasters and 40mm Rolex Professional-series models, I came to the conclusion 36mm was too small for my 7.5" wrist.
Funny how that happens.
It really is up to the wearer to decide. There's no real rules.

Seems like yesterday, but I remember when the Sub and Gmt looked way to big for professional/work situations. Amazing how times changes, but I'm sure the pendulum will swing back one day.

Yes, 36mm is a classic size, but not everyone and their wrists will look good with the classic size.....

I just watched American phyco Patrick Bateman has the white face with roman and it looked stunning

Wonder if he's a brand ambassador?

I'm going to the AD on Saturday to try one on

After having worn a few 40mm Rolex sports models and the 39mm Explorer I, I personally could never go backwards to a 36mm if it was a DJ. Day-Date is a different story as I feel it wears a tad bigger for some reason and also because its a Day-Date. I don't have big wrists but still think but once your perception of how a watch should look has changed, especially if you are currently wearing a Panerai, then it's hard to go back to something. IMO try on the 39mm Explorer I, it's great for any occasion especially shirt and tie.

It's a time-proven classic size... there's a reason it became an icon.

I have a 43mm Bremont, and 36mm Datejust. Switch the two over often.

First off, it takes a few minutes to adjust to the size, as that's quite a difference, but after a while it's forgotten. And as a dressy watch to fit under a shirt cuff, it fits the bill fine. Certainly doesn't feel small with long sleeve attire.

Classic Rolex, classic size too, IMO.

Depends on size and shape of your wrist. Not to mention your preference. I think the 36mm DJ is too small for myself, but I also think the Daytona is too small for me as well. My wife wears the 36mm DJ, while I probably look to trade the Daytona for the Cartier Calibre chrono panda 42mm. I'm sure alot will disagree with that trade being a rolex site, but I like the looks (readability), size, wrist presence, date function, etc. of Cartier alot better than Daytona. I would make sure to get good discount to ensure at least a couple grand back. In the end, it's what makes you happy. So go try on as many as you can. :) Good luck.

36 is good in gold because the weight makes it feel larger. in steel it feels small as a casual watch, but perfect in more formal attire.

I have a 36mm Explorer. Very comfortable classic watch... but I don't wear it as much anymore as I find my sweet spot is now 39mm-42mm.

I love my Explorer, but if I was buying an Explorer today I likely would go for a bigger watch (39mm Exp 1 or the 42mm Exp 2).

Maybe the pendulum will swing back. My wife wears a 36mm DJ and it looks amazing.

Tried on a 36mm datejust today. Beautiful watch, and sometimes I think one looks good on someone else's wrist, but looked and felt like a woman's watch to me, on my 7 1/2 inch wrist.

If the Panerai is 44mm or smaller it looks fine with a suite. For that matter, if you can pull off a Pam, you don't want a 36mm watch.

Yea, 36mm looks too small on a man these days.

Is 36mm just too small for a modem watch?

I tried the dj 2 it it really do anything for me

Only you can decide if it looks too small. I decided it looked just fine.
