But an Overseas rarely does, less of the around and people hang on to them.

Ap Diver vs. VC Overseas
If you are interested there is a VC Overseas Chrono slate dial that is for sale on TRF for around $13k. Looks good 👍

That is stunning. How's the weight? The Platinum was chunky. I'm sorely tempted on that one. Is the time relatively readable at a glance? It's funny, I told myself no more chronos right now, but I don't think this falls under that category.

The weight is well balanced - not too heavy at all on my wrist. I have not tried on a Platinum. I have the 42mm and it feels good on the wrist - a slight tad large on my 6.25" wrist. Time is easily legible, likely due to the gold hands against the white dial. But also all the Chrono functions contrast very nicely with the blue hands. The one difference of the Chronographe with the QDL is that the time is on the left on the Chronographe, whereas it was moved to the right on the QDL. If you wear the watch on the left wrist with a dress shirt, it is easier to read the QDL of the shirt cuff is slightly covering the watch. The other two differences you mentioned I agreed. I could not handle the Foudroyante jumping every 1/6 second All the time on the QDL, whereas on the Chronographe it runs only with the chronograph function. It is much more difficult for the second mainspring barrel to run a fast moving chronograph compared to a slower date complication. This kudos to the original design. It's a stellar piece and easily one of my most favorites. Here's a short vid of the 2 in action when I was trying to compare the two models http://youtu.be/38YYkx5vJIY Sent from my 16M |

Then again, I believe that more people buy the AP and then flip it once the hype is gone, not so much with the VC. At least that's what happened to me! Here's a good idea, get the Diver preowned, if you don't like it flip it at a marginal loss and get a preowned Overseas.

I think I'm in for the Diver. Spent a little time ogling a friends VC and wasn't so into it. I found it excessively shiny and the Maltese motif to be a bit too much. On the bezel, the clasp, the bracelet, the dial. It all came off a bit forced. An attractive watch for sure, but didn't have the coherence and integration of the AP line or the nautilus.
Thanks everyone for the insights... |

I voted for the AP Diver, but I must say that the VC dual time is a looker!
