Depends on whether or not you spend most of your time in the car or not!

I live in Durango, CO. A $10,000 bike wouldn't elicit comment here, but a two-tone watch would! Weird.

When it comes to bikes, it's not how much it costs that won praises - it's how fast you are around corners, how much chicken strips left (if any).

I'm not a car guy, I don't know anything about cars. As long as it takes me from point A to point B safely and is reliable I'm happy. Gas efficiency is important to me also.. But a watch, I like watches. So... Watch.

It's a Rolex forum. People will say watch. It depends what's more important to you. I'm a car fanatic also. I own 2 cars, one as my daily and my BMW for car shows, weekends, etc.

But to answer the question...and I hate to say it on a watch forum but I would take the car. I love to drive and nothing gets your heart rate going like a nice drive on some twisty back roads or a day at the track.

Here is the toy...
decent beater

There are a lot of variables. The budget being the biggest. A budget for a pretty good watch (say a TT Rolex or cheaper), wouldn't get far towards a "nice" car. The budget for a nice car could easily be split to get a decent watch and a decent car.

As far as what I would do...I would split it. I could find a fun car and a decent watch on a pretty reasonable budget. Say $25k...I could do a fun toy car for $20k and a decent watch for $5k

I want to say both, but I suppose I've voted for car with my wallet over the years.

One of my cars, (a 5.0 Mustang) I've owned for 23 years and driven it all over the US. I'm still not done getting it where I want it to be. It's a serious money pit, but that's ok.

I just don't spend money like that on watches.

If I was a single guy my ride would take priority. Now that Im married and halfway in the grave a watch really doesn't do it for me either. Bikes and Boats however are my weakness. Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face then those 2.

I have owned fast cars, but over 45 years of owning Rolexes and Cartiers, nothing beats the love of a fine watch.

I can't stand car payments and they will depreciate faster than a Rolex for the most part. I have an Acura TL and would much rather keep it and add to the watch collection vs buying a car.

Car is a toy, watch could be an investment.(sorta...)

Depends on budget. Watch takes priority in my case, depreciates less and more liquid.

I would take the nicer watch over the nicer car. I see most cars as an expensive depreciating asset.. so I'd rather have a car that is less to maintain, is reliable, etc. My car just has to get me places.

A nice watch costs little to maintain, it holds its value, you get to wear it everywhere you go.

i love cars and i get a lot of enjoyment from them. i think it is also relative. for $10k you can get a good watch only an average car. at the same time i wouldn't be comfortable spending $100k on a watch but i could justify that for a car purchase (hopefully one day)

Car over watch. Watches get extremely boring and can never thrill like a proper sports car

The term nice in my head goes further with watches than cars in Australia, and I love cars, but these days my watches collectively are worth a lot more than my car, which is good as it depreciates faster than they do.

Historically, humans have judged men more heavily based on the horse they ride than the ornaments on their bodies. The safer bet, if the objective is to maximize image, is the car.
