Tough one, I'd say black followed very closely by silver.

Black is basic, silver for variety
Most of my watches have a black dial. Partly due to preference and partly due to practicality because I find a black dial very easy to read.
I have some brand X watches with a silver dial. I liked them when I bought them, but I found them hard to read and now I rarely wear them. Having said all this, a few days ago, I tried a DJ2 with a silver dial and I was stunned by how much I liked it on my wrist (I had ignored it on prior visits to my AD). Next week, I expect to buy either a silver DJ2 or a blue DJ2. The blue one wowed me from the first, but the silver grew on me as more elegant and as a complete contrast to my Submariner. Good luck shopping. |

I know what you mean.
I have a blue Sub, so I'm not interested in the blue DJ2, but like you, I'm torn between black and silver. The black looks better in pictures, IMO, but in person the silver sunburst dial is spectacular. Both would go with absolutely anything. I have two other watches - one white dial and another silver dial, so I'll probably go with the black. It's nice to have such a first-world problem, right?

OK, the newest numbers indicate black-silver-white at 40/35/25. Lots of love for the white, but looks like it's a tough call between black and silver.
If I did the math right, our small sample size of 174 produces a +or- margin of error of 7.3%, so this is basically a toss-up between the black and silver. Never the less, our poll numbers and anecdotal evidence indicate that BLACK is the clear winner and SILVER is a close second. Nice job everybody. |

I own the Black DJII, smooth bezel. Works really well for work or dress. I imagine dial color preference may have something to do with one's standard wardrobe.

Silver and White are neck and neck, but I went with Silver, as mentioned in previous respsonses, there's just something about it in person. Pics just don't do it justice.

Black - Silver - White at an AD
Looks like one of our friendly Rolex ADs did the same poll! So far we've got 230 polled. Come on, TRF, can we get this poll to 300? It's so simple, anyone can play!

I'd go blue or white on this one. Has nothing to do with the other dials offered as any is going to look great. Blue and white dialed watches are just not as common and when done, few brands get them right. I tell people the same thing when asking which dial to get on an Explorer II: if this is your first and only Rolex, then go black. If not, consider white.

I spent a lot of time debating between white or a silver dj2. I eventually chose silver and feel I made the right decision. No picture I have seen of the silver dial truely does its justice as the way it picks up light needs to be seen on the wrist. I vote silver

I voted black, and if it was me I would get the black dial w/roman numerals.
