China opened ~16 fake apple stores...website must have been a breeze.

Good luck detaching.

Will the real TRF please stand up.

Not surprised at all. I doubt if there is ever something that Chinese don't replicate

TRF REALLY needs to renew its certificate with a current cert for SSL. Sadly, a great site such as TRF will be targeted time and time again and a proper cert is a big step in the right direction.

I had forgotten they let the certificate expire.
I recall There was some rationale behind it but can't say I understand it all too well

Or we could simply wait for the replica site to break in ~2 months on its own inherent quality.

I think Steve said it was problematic with the certificate, a pain in the ass. Wasn't worth it.

I think he'll be here to correct my remembrance of this

Many have said check and double check that one is on the correct site, how would one do that please? What should one look for?

The good thing is you have double your post counter.

I don't get why someone do this, what is the goal?

I absolutely agree with this...the only site I visit that does not.

Hope it all gets resolved soon.

Should be as simple as looking at the address bar?
http://www.rolexforums.com/...

Is our site vs the other I expect would have a change in the address (I haven't been to other site)

It would depend on whether your own system is compromised or not (and to what degree) but generally you can confirm the website is authentic by clicking the "URL" or "Location" bar where you see http://www.rolexforums.com/etc..

You should also scroll across the entire address to see its not redirected somehow or a tricky url name. there should be no website other than rolexforums in the address.

Bravo!!!

Over the Christmas holiday I bought Ugg boots from a copycat site that popped up mirroring the real Ugg site. I think it was uggsstore.com vs uggstore.com. When I received no feedback after paying for 3 pairs of boots I immediately began to wonder. Contacted the site, no response. Finally got an email that they were shipping from China 7 days later. Went to CC company immediately, they investigated and gave me credit and the site was removed within a few days, probably by Ugg. They viligantly protect their brand and I am glad that TRF did the same.

This thread is to make sure everyone knew to beware of fake TRF site and to be extra vigilant and NOT try and log in there. Always look at the URL and make sure you are where you want to be, before logging in to any sites you may use, such as TRF, banking, and the like.
Crazy stuff....

I like it that Nathan posted this and brought attention to it.

Thanks Admins!
