Here in Honolulu Hawaii I have never seen one out in the wild (and there are a lot of Rolex wearers here) yet except for my boss' which he purchased a couple months before I purchased mine. The other time I saw one out in the wild was at the Rolex boutique here in Waikiki on display and before that was when I walked into the AD and purchased mine that just happened to somehow be on display that day..I guess sometimes things are just meant to be.
Speaking of SS Daytona's I saw a 116520 Black dial on someones wrist that lives in my building and that was the only time I've seen a modern SS Daytona in the wild on someone's wrist here in Hawaii. |

I've never seen one in the wild and only once in an AD. 20 mins later it was on my wrist.

I've never seen one in person (except for my own), and I work in the City of London where everyone has a Rolex. Which is one of the reasons why I got it....

Yes, the majority of incomings here lately are BLNR. It's just a cool steel sport watch. I own one. However, I have never seen one in the wild. I see alot of Rolexes daily in Dallas. They are usually two tone datejusts on a jubilee bracelet. Probably 20+ years old. The newer watches I see are usually steel subs with the occasional two tone mixed in. Of course you also see the occasional day date.

There's a teacher in my kid's school that has the BLNR which was the first time I got to see it in person. I've also seen a couple walking around Soho since then. It's definitely a "regular" watch. But it's a great one. It just hasn't been out long enough to be widespread, but I'm sure it'll get there.

Good for him. He just likes his watch, not the jargon.

That is classic and, with the exception of members of this or similar forums, is much closer to the timepiece knowledge of the world at large, let alone running into someone that knows the silly nicknames that some people apply

I see it regularly at ADs, but some of these ADs have huge inventories with multiple ice blue dial platinum DD/DDIIs. Smaller ADs with inventory in the teens usually do not have them in stock.
All the ADs I have spoken to say that the new bezel has brought back an interest in the GMT watches in general. |

I'm not sure I would call any Rolex 'regular' or 'ordinary', but each to their own. I've seen two in the wild, including mine; the other one was here in Singapore too. I've never seen one on display here either. My AD can get one but there's a short-ish wait.

That's not the first story I've heard of the BLNR in the store not being displayed. I find that curious. The only explanation I can think of is the AD is sitting on an LN that hasn't moved since the BLNR came out and he wants it gone. But somehow I doubt that. Seems to me the LN is still doing just fine thank-you. Think Rolex might indulge us on this by releasing sales figures? We obviously are liking the BLNR, but we're freaks of nature. The average Joe Blow will probably not be quite so confident of its versatility and will walk out with the LN. Especially since the BLNR comes at a $500 premium and probably less (if any) discount.

The dentist only knew what he was wearing was a nice Rolex, and Rolex brand name is deeply imbedded in his mind. Without doubt, this knid of people are most welcome by Rolex. On the contrary, a WIS is too picky in every detail and hard to be a good customer from the marketing point of view.

Everyone seems to have one here on TRF and everyone wants them to be rare. Same with the 16610LV. I've seen the BLNR at my local AD and there isn't a waiting list here. My Father has ordered a white Face SS daytona in Dubai and was informed that it would take 2 months to get one in. I don't think there are any "RARE" modern rolexes however I have yet to see a Skydweller in an AD window (I have not been inside and asked) or in person.

Still though, the average buyer is probably going to get something closer to entry level pricing, and especially since the SS Sub and GMT fit that bill and are very iconic and recognizable they fly off the shelves compared to say the TT versions of the same watch. The Daytona may also suffer from being available in white and black dial in the stainless model. So if the AD doesn't have both in the store the one he does have may sit a little longer.

Has the BLNR become a "regular" watch...
'RARE' is just the wrong word. Harder to acquire...sure. We all know that all ADs are not created equal - therefore at some of the smaller ones it is more likely for them to not display a watch (such as a BLNR or Stainless Daytona) and perhaps offer it to specific customers. This is how I have gotten ahold of various watches before...to INCLUDE my BLNR and a Daytona. I'm referring mainly to ADs - you can get just about ANYTHING you want in the grey market.
Having said that I HAVE seen both a BLNR and BOTH dial stainless Daytonas IN a case at a HUGE AD in New Orleans. So, it can happen - as we all know. Although - as I said earlier - and as many others - I have YET to see a BLNR in the wild other than mine...and have seen less than a handful of stainless Daytonas where I am as well. I think (personally) that 1. The (some) ADs don't necessarily get them in often (I know mine doesn't) some hang onto for certain customers and 2. Most customers going in for Rolex watches are really looking for 116610s...(not all - but pretty much) or perhaps more prevalent varietals. Just my 2 (I think the BLNR is a special reference for us WIS) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I posted on this late last night stating that the only time I had seen one was three of them on an elevator- me, my buddy and the guy who noticed. Hadn't seen once since until I was at the bakery today.
