Now that you've decided on keeping it, post some collection pics!

That is a nice collection you have going at 25. You've got taste, sir.

You'll notice that posts like this pop up from time to time. Someone feels uncomfortable wearing their new watch around friends, family, or co-workers. We are a supportive lot. Unless the purchase crippled you financially or was a detriment to the nest egg you will be encouraged to enjoy the watch and ignore the (usually nonexistent) negative thoughts of others. Hell, even if it is a bad financial decision you'll get plenty of enablers! The beauty of TRF

Either spend it on a watch, spend it on a vacation, spend it on a house. Everyone spends money how they choose. Plus most people dunno what watch is what at first glance
Glad to know I'm not the only one...I'm not as worried about things from the financial aspect as I've already taken care of the house part. If it comes down to good investment, it's obviously better than leasing a bmw or merc, which some analysts at my firm do. I have been fortunate to get ahead quickly, but don't want anyone confusing a watch I wear for arrogance. Thanks for the comment.

Keep it - seems to be one of the harder watches to acquire.

I agree with everyone else here says too - who cares what others think, just enjoy it!

I would wear it and enjoy. No one other than those that are into watches will really notice. And even if they do, like most have said, your actions speak louder than anything that's on your wrist.

I never though of a Daytona as a flashy watch honestly. Maybe a gold one but not SS. Keep it.

I've been wearing Rolex for a long time and I've learned a few things:

1. The only person that will notice your watch is another watch guy.

2. The only person that will care about your watch is another watch guy.

3. Most people couldn't care less about your watch, even if they do happen to notice.

4. Most people cannot tell a Rolex from a Timex.

Wear it, love it, no one cares.

Glad you decided to keep it :) I have been wearing my 116520 since Thanksgiving and the only comment I ever got was from an AD salesperson. After a few days you will see how truly under the radar it is compared to other chronographs on the market.

I do not think the crown on the dial will attract any attention, and there are many watches that are priced lower than a Daytona that will get noticed 10x quicker.

For example a Breitling that costs less than a Daytona is fully polished and much bigger. This will definitely attract some attention before a Daytona.

Sack up and keep it. Immediately punch whoever gets in your face about owning it. Who knows, you may get promoted again for being a mans man like the Dos Equis guy.

If it were a YG Daytona then I may worry. But a SS white dial Daytona, no worries in my opinion. If someone notices they are likely a watch person and will appreciate your exquisite taste in fine horology.

I wouldn't return it and I'm glad you are going to keep it. I assume you aren't a trust fund baby working at McDonalds. Since you have some spendy pieces, I assume you have the sort of job where you earn a good living. I would guess that others in the office do, too. I don't think the Daytona will be as noticeable as you think it is. Most wouldn't know it for what it is, and it isn't as if you are the only burger flipper wearing a nice watch where it would stand out. I am guessing your co-workers also have some nice watches, cars, etc.

Amongst the 3 watches you mentioned, the Daytona may be the most under the radar watch. People often recognize the DJ, but only watch enthusiasts recognize the Daytona. Depending on the metal color of the PP 5127, unless it is WG, it can garner attention with it being a "gold watch with leather straps".

Enjoy the Daytona as your daily watch and don't look back!

If the only reason you have remorse is cause you feel guilty wearing it around the office, than you better keep it. If you want to go a little low profile, throw a nato or leather strap on it. The only people that are going to notice are other watch guys.

Most people won't notice it. If you feel uncomfortable with it around the office, then don't wear it. Put it back in the box and wear it at a future job that would accept employees that enjoy finer things in life.

I had one stranger comment negatively on my steel and gold Daytona. I thanked them and said it was a gift from my family and I treasured it. It wasn't a gift from the family but my kind of response tends to cut people off from further comments or discussion.
