What a great journey you've had Gus - very interesting to see how it matured and how some things just stayed the same in your taste.

Thanks for sharing mate!

First, welcome back to the Daytona club, Gus! Second, you never should have left us!

Seriously though, thanks for sharing. Great story, pics and of course, an amazing collection in steel (my preference as well). Glad to see you still consider an SS Daytona a grail. I was there too in the 90s wanting a Zenith SS Daytona, but it was so hard to get - so I can relate. Congrats again, I'm a big fan of the 116520 - same classic shape as the Zenith Daytona, yet the new in-house movement is a significant upgrade.

Icon4 Note to self --> Buy a TT Gold/SS Bracelet

Thank you for opening up about one man's story of strife and perseverance...

///Oops! Sorry, wrong story. "Strike that. hehe

Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection thru the years and the mindset that accompanied it.

I wanted to say more than the obligatory, "thanks for a great story, and nice collection." But if I do, wouldn't I be a special poster? If I add too much, maybe some would think I'm trying to stand out from the crowd and get noticed.

Well, that's why we buy the 16613 in the first place! Please return the 16613 to it's original state. Then, I will be able to reply in coherent sentences...that make some sort of sense

I remember looking at Gus' beat to hell 16613 and thinking how can anyone wear one watch for 20 years. Glad you've stayed here all the time!

Hey Subtona do you miss the aquanaut at all? I'm thinking of adding one to my BLNR and speedy, or maybe the 15202 instead. Can't make up my mind. Any tips?

I had both the 5167 and 15202 and though they are both fine choices, in the end, I was not satisfied.
The 5711 has been a favorite and sees very much wrist time.
Of course you can try the others but the 5711 is my best and most sincere recommendation.

Great story! Similar to mine actually. Bought a Sea Dweller, wanted to learn more about it. Joined Timezone, things were a little stuffy over there, found TRF and stayed. It is amazing what happens to ones watch collection when you stick around these forums!
