Why don't you at least give us an idea who the seller is without naming names? Was it a seller here in the for sale section of the forum? Or a grey market seller? Or an A.D? I have been here long enough to know that if it was one of the trusted sellers here that have been around for some time they would make the deal right. They sell hundreds and some like DavidSW sell thousands of timepieces. They cant afford to have a negative transaction as their livelihood depends on it!!

Fyi it's not him. and please don't direct any names on this thread. I'm still waiting for this situation to be fixed. Once we fixed it guess what? i'm still going to get my next watch to our trusted sellers over here. I still believe that it can be resolved. I just want my watch back and move on.

Each to their own but I prefer to buy from an AD. I have excellent relationships with two in particular, one here and one in the UK, and both will give me a tidy discount where possible. For me, the prospect of buying from a trusted seller just isn't worth the potential hassle. I understand that people like DavidSW has completed thousands of flawless transactions and good on him, but I like to sit at an AD and physically see, handle and inspect the watch before handing over my hard earned.

If I was in a position to do a face-to-face transaction with a trusted seller, then that would be a different story.

Just my 1.3p/2c

OP, I hope your issue is resolved. Good luck

Understandable. And most of the well known trusted sellers welcome face to face transactions.

Exactly Tom! I can't afford to experience this type of heart burn over a watch.

Sounds like you want the seller to return the watch that you traded to him instead of allowing the seller to replace the watch he sold to you. Does this mean you changed your mind about the watch you purchased or regret taking away your watch?

As much as I'd like to think BNIB at an authorized Rolex dealer, and BNIB on a forum classified ad are the same thing, I'm afraid that's the exception rather than the rule. In either case, this isn't acceptable but at least it can be easily fixed.

This... Makes me skeptical. I'm in the market for a Sub, if I can find an AD for $7700 and on the forum at $7500, this thread makes me feel like it is a no brainer to pay an extra few hundred.

Hope it works out for you!

Damn right. Even if I buy over the net it will only be from a seller with a bricks and mortar store who I already know. Otherwise I want to handle the watch in person.

I would buy from a trusted seller on the forum if there was a big enough price difference and I was able to meet f2f and view the watch. Especially for something like a PM piece where my AD contacts just cannot physically discount enough to justify the "safety factor". It would most certainly be one of the big sellers though (like the Batman sponsors). But I do prefer to deal with my AD folks, great relationships are hard to come by.

As to the OP I would feel uneasy on this whole deal as well. I hope you get your trade back and find a new seller.
Good luck.

Good luck I would just cancel this entire deal. I would be much more concerned over the card not matching than spring bars.

Onion?

Hard to believe someone gets so stressed by a loose spring bar and has to take a day off: this is a real candidate for an Onion article!

Could have been perfect when it left the seller, and during shipping it got jostled, or fell from a night stand, Doh! that's another story...

Don't worry, I had an issues once and I politely spoke to the seller and he and i both agreed that he was going out of his way to fix it since it probably happened during shipping...I still gave him a gift for helping me
