Easy for me, as I'm in the minority who doesn't like the Daytona. So, a number of other pieces would be preferable.

To be honest I wouldn't want just one watch anyway, even if it was my grail. I would want at least a sports watch, an "allrounder" and a dress watch.

If you can afford a platona now, it is just a matter of time you will acquire other pieces on top of the platona. Doesn't have to be all or nothing. Look long term.

I dont really care for the Platona, so i would get different watches of same value. If it had to be a Rolex, potentially a rose gold Day Date or a RG skydweller on croc

GORGEOUS watches!!! I don't think I would flip those two...for anything!!! I have the white dialed PP 5711, and I hope to get a white dialed AP Royal Oak 15200 someday (soon)... keepers for me!!!

I've tried the Platona on a few times including two days ago, both times the AD was hoping to tempt me. I could trade half my watches in and get one but I have zero interest in that at least at this point. If the Platona looked just like this in terms of the dial and bezel I'd be more tempted, but to each his own.Name: image.jpg

I haven't thought of it before but if I were to have a Grail watch I guess this would be it. I'd prefer an authentic one of these in SS over a new one like it in platinum everyday of the week though.

I think that "wow", particularly the long-term wow that never seems to fade, is a big thing to look for.

Recently, I tried on a watch that was very nice, but I wasn't sure. But, as I walked a few blocks afterwards, I could sort of feel it on my wrist still... that's a watch I'll buy!
those two are beauties for sure but if they didn't capture your attention then you have to keep looking… looking forward to your incoming.

i tried the Datyona on a couple of times, i was really not comfortable with the weight of the watch on my wrist in those brief sampling moments.

ultimately i chose a complicated Patek manual wind… in either case however, i do not believe they would exist perfectly in a 1 watch situation.
