You know what they say about short watch hands...

Has anybody (such as Jocke) taken the hands of a 42mm black dial Expii and actually mounted them in a 39mm Exp as in this photoshop? I would love to see the result in real life photos. I own the 36mm and 39mm Exp. Yes the look of the smallish hands against the larger dial of the 39 annoys me, but not enough to dispose of it. |

Enjoy the watch! You'll happy to know that the short hands were installed to save weight in high altitude mountaineering expeditions!

Having owned both the 39mm and 36mm it isthe 36mm that I have always preferred.
It's more legible in any conditions and apart from the Bracelet which is superior on the 39mm the 36mm is my daily wearer and I have no regrets. |

Not a fan of the fatter hands on the 39mm (in the photo shopped photo) but at least there the proper length. Is it really debatable if the hands are short or not?

I've had this watch for 3 years. I read all the stuff about short hands too and saw the pictures. But, when I put the watch on my wrist, it all worked. The lume on the minute hand precisely lines up with the edge of the hour marker lume. The hands were not an afterthought by Rolex, but instead a well thought out design element. Now, when I see the Explorer I with the long minute hand, I think it looks a bit clumsy. The watch is supremely elegant yet sporty and rugged at once. It doesn't look absurd with a suit like many other sport Rollies do (yeah, they do-- you look like you're playing James Bond, but you ain't James Bond...), yet holds its own in any sport setting. You can study all the pictures, read all the writeups, but there's no substitute for wearing it on your wrist. If it works, it works, if not, let it go and move on.

Yup, hands are too short and shame about the switch to the polished 3/6/9, but who cares what a bunch of strangers on a forum think if you love the watch?
Then again, one's feelings for a watch can change, no big deal. |

I think the hands are too small, but it doesn't worry me at all, because I have the choice to buy or not buy.
On the other hand, those who have purchased this watch, more power to you, enjoy

Hi guys thanks for ur opinion. In real life its actually is fine! also you guys can fit an aftermarket hand if your daring enough http://www.ewatchparts.com/watch-han...400-swiss.html
That one should fit okay. The Milguass actually has short hands too but at 40mm casing. May as well add the lighting bolt too...3131 and 3132 are pretty much the same movement. I take no responsibilities....... |

Hi guys thanks very much for your opinions. Yes they are short however in real life they are fine
Also here is an idea...place some longer aftermarket Mercedes hands on your explorer 39mm if it stops you from buying it. These mercedes hands should fit the explorer alright. The original Milguass hand does not reach the increment markers (not as bad) but is larger at 40mm so theoretically it should be fine http://www.ewatchparts.com/watch-han...400-swiss.html The 3131 and 3132 are like the same movement right? P.S May as well use the lighting bolt hand as well to spice things up...I take no responsibilities in this message..... |
