Cayman GTS, while a bit different than a throaty v8, is an exceptional car and in a few years those sweet flat six sonneries will be relegated to the pre-owned p cars. If I didn't already get my flat six fix in with my 991 I would go out of my way to get one. It's just not in the cards for me right now as its been an expensive couple years.
guy with s3 hating on gt350. Thats rich. |

That's very rude of you.
Don't you drive a Jetta or a3 or something? The GT350 blows the doors off your car and looks much better. BTW, I own a few foreigns if it makes you feel better. Back to Superdog, it's horrible paying MSRP+ The whole time driving the car you feel like you got robbed. Have you considered a lightly used Viper? They are priced around your target, and they are killing production making it an instant classic. |

I have an M3 and while I love the Cayman GTS, even Carrera S, as well as the GT350 and a few other I would never give it up, at least not anytime soon. Love it so much I actually bought it again in 2016. I'm willing to trade my X5 for the GT350 but not while being forced to give the dealer a Day Date as a gift. If you just want that new new and are bored with ownership then open your choices substantially. There are many nice cars out there each offering something. Ultimately none will offer everything. It really seems you have outgrown your car in which case there's three options -stand by your decision and accept the repercussions of your indecision -trade it -start modding- a most popular option....but you still don't have that "new new" like the Joneses across the street. I think there's no better choice than to add a few dollars and get a Z06. I think that car will keep you plenty happy for a while, sounds great and there's no fear of the new generation pissing on your parade for a relative while. |

Over list? My godson just brought a GT350 here in NY at sticker price. Why should you pay anything over list?

It doesn't take away from how much I like the Mustang 5.0. It's a great car. For now anyway, I'm not into the next better watch. I'm genuinely bored with watches too. I'm happy with my little Omega collection I've got going. In regards to the car, at first it was GT350 or bust. But not Ok paying over so I went looking. Always loved the stingray, but thought it was out of my price range. But in the last year I've put away a ton, and business is going super. Last year was a banner year, and the first 1/4 is moving along the same exact path. I'm figuring live once, work hard, and enjoy it. I'm mostly super responsible. House paid, save always first, live below means etc. Even guys on my team are pushing me to do something. I quote "what are you working for, if not stuff like this". So 100% you hit the nail on the head. Boredom is driving the activity. But that's ok in my book. It's my tendency to get bored, and push hard, and do different things that also has helped me create a modest level of success. It's this personality trait that creates a certain drive to keep going. In regards to the Z06, total beast. I get it. But also another 40k on top of where I'm looking. It puts me right back into the idea being responsibly irresponsible. I can get and greatly enjoy the Z51 and it's not going to effect my life in any way. My only hesitation is that I do love my Mustang. It's a great ride, and it's paid for. Hard to move on, and pay more while being this happy with it. Lastly, not worried about the Joneses. Never have been. Modding isn't my thing as I like fixed costs. I pay for the Z51 and I've got a nice long warranty. I keep mine and mod it, and who knows what costs and down time I'll be facing for repairs. I put a chip in my first Audi A4 20 years ago. I blew one, and the two turbos. I was devastated. Had to eat the costs. And I really am Ok with growing old with a car. Hell, I want to. If I could just stave off the boredom. But I've got a sneaky suspicion that I'll love the vette as well. And for now, it's giving me the giggles thinking about it. Hearing the exhaust was mind blowing. I'm not a Porsche or BMW guy. I'm an American car guy. It's just my style. I love European cars, and Japanese too, but they are not for me. The wife and I even thought about getting a couple of Harley's, but I'm too clumsy for that and will certainly hurt myself. Is this all some kind of justification? F$&k yeah it is. But again, when I talk to anyone close to me in my life, and I share my hesitation, they all push me to do this. Only my wife is somewhat hesitant. She thinks the car might be too pretentious and seem like we are douche bags. She thinks it's flashy. And hell, it is pretty flashy. It's a damned beautiful car.

I am with you Seth. The paying over msrp at all (let alone by $20k) would make me a bit bitter and afraid I wouldn't enjoy it either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Regarding your post #65 Seth:
Great response. I heard a lot of great considerations in it, but the most clear to me is that you need that Z06 in your life buddy. I know it is above budget a little but you won't need to ever mod it, sounds great, has some super car presence and definitely that street "cred" which we all secretly enjoy. You only live once. I feel disgusted the Ford Motor Company knows these dealers are doing these markups and allows it. I really like the GT350, it ticks all the boxes sound, looks, unique, powerful, reasonably useful for daily chores(compared to a Cayman)...but nope, will not pay what could be seen as two school semesters of kids college with books and clothing, a Day Date, a nice AP, last year's Honda Accord for one of the kids....$20k buys a lot of stuff. Dealers seem to want the car more than I do, keep it then, just pushes me to other options. |

agree with the comments on the Ford Motor Co. It is a blemish in my opinion and it makes them look terrible. And this dealer, is a good guy. A buddy of a buddy. Including my 5.0, I have bought 5 cars from him in the last two years. 3 of them were for my team at work, and 1 was a 24' box truck for work as well. i am an excellent, repeat customer. they would not budge even a little. i can also agree with your comments on the Z06. however, i really truly inch along in life when it comes to big spending. i always tend to start small and grow from there. it is all about my comfort levels. i have seen way too many successful people go down the hill because they got cocky and spent beyond their means. then when things got dicey, as they inevitably will, they could not cover their bills. my monthly nut is currently lower than when i was 24 and i am not 42. significantly lower. i pay cash for everything and i live rather modestly. i pay all my insurance at one time in the beginning of the year and i am a big saver. i also have no kids to pay for and no college to save for. i am certain that i have lost money of the years doing various different flips. however, i have always enjoyed a certain level of comfort. and then when i can do, and feel comfortable with it, i move on and up. in regards to the Z06, i will probably give it a year or so and see where i am at. i can assure you, even if i stick with the 5.0, i will still be super happy. so if i end up with just the Z51, i expect nothing but smiles......

I just emailed them to see what I can find out. Honestly, I am skeptical. I have searched high and low, and even dealers advertising MSRP have responded with saying there is a premium.

Seth-just an FYI
I'm not sure if there is a Penske owned Ford dealership in the area but it is their corporate policy to not sell cars over MSRP no matter what the car. A few people I know snagged a few GTR's back when they fist came out.
