Lacoste fits best for me. Le Tigre, RL Polo and Original Penguin do not fit me nearly as well. I am however going to try Psycho Bunny based off the comments here, but do worry a bit about length. They seem to be longer than normal? Guess I'll have to go to tucking in my shirts...

I'm aware of their troubled reputation in the UK, but Stone Island's fabric dyeing technique is great

Have a bunch of Kiton and Brioni dress and sport button down shirts, nothing beats them.

For polo style, Purple Label, Brioni, and Peter Millar.

Lacoste polos, only. I swear they come back like brand new shirts after a dry clean.

this 100% wool Brioni was sold to me at a substantial discount !

I like mustard brown and have a shirt in that colour, didn't get a discount though!

I stopped wearing polo shirts years ago. I wore Lacoste and RL, but I hated the way they shrank after a wash. They'd always shrink vertically, resulting a very unflattering shape.

I recently visited a Lacoste outlet and the shirts felt horrible. The fabric was so thin. I don't know if the outlets get cheaper quality stuff, but they did not feel nice.

Whatever has a nice athletic cut. Right now I wear fitted/slim Brooks Brothers. Nothing worse than a sloppy, untucked, wrinkled polo.

Cutter & Buck, Nike and Columbia have new fiber-tech that wicks and cools better than most of the traditional cotton & blends. So am cycling out the traditional polo's as we speak.

Last weekend in 90°+ sun I tried the long-sleeved UPF50 ZeroFreeze Columbia knit polo and never felt hot.

I'm convinced that brands supply outlet stores with inferior products. A Lacoste shirt from one of their outlets is nothing near the quality of that in their boutique.

I must concur! I went into the boutique and they had a wonderful selection of different colors and the quality is superb.

I refuse point blank to wear a shirt that has the makers logo displayed on it.

Same here -- I don't like wearing clothes with visible branding. On the higher end stuff, this is usually the case. Even Ralph Lauren drops the branding for many of their polos from their Purple Label line. Lacoste does the same for a lot of their "platinum label" stuff.

RL purple

Lacoste platinum

Mick,

You wear a watch that has the makers logo on it, correct? Why not shirt?

I don't really wear traditional polo's anymore, they're all golf/sweat wicking - Peter Millar is probably what I have the most of.
