The 116610 seems like the most logical choice to me. You'll have everything you're used to, just upgraded.

Here's to new beginnings!

Has to go! BLNR, Daytona, DJ... Anything but the sub that will remind you of a bad time

The sub c date seems the way to go, on with the new, but to differentiate a little more, I would recommend the Sub C

If you keep it and get rid of it, your are rolling with the natural order of things and letting nature take its course. Its when you go against the grain that thing get out of wack.

lol, my 2 cents anyways.

Meh, to each his own, just was never a believer in supernatural magic voodoo stuff. I do not honestly believe there is some magic force that floats around altering the course of events in history. A precedes B so thus B follows A. No "good intent or bad intent" changes that.

Always seen life follow a literal path and don't believe in miracles good or bad. Plane crashes and one kid survives. Everyone says its a wondrous miracle. I ask is it a wondrous miracle then that the other 278 died. Nope. Just random chance.

Just the way I see life.

Lets say you sell the watch and invest the proceeds in stock from the company of "Bangor monkey time cheesyrice ". Two days later the stock tanks. What happens next? People say "see, we told you bad luck would follow that cursed money".

So your saying everyone in the world who owns that stock also gets punished alongside you because you used that cursed money in that way?? Sorry, just can not buy that this "magic voodoo force" would punish 400,000 other people along with you to prove a point to you and you alone.

Bad things happen in life. So do good things. For both good and bad people. We as humans have a brain which is ill equipped in making sense of things that are vastly random in nature so we "invent" stories and rituals to justify them (wearing same shirt on game day, etc.). We do this that the worlds "improbable" are now transformed into "explainable" thus making the world a bit less scary. Random things now have an explanation that makes sense to our mind, thus if we follow our self imposed rules, bad things will not affect us.

These mental games, they truly do help comfort our subconscious mental processes, but this "mental comfort" in no way confers any validity to said games, they are still just our own mental constructs and sadly, nothing else.

Just my .02 and your mileage may vary.

This is a great suggestion.

Prior to her filing for divorce, my ex had given me a 2 tone DJ as an anniversary gift, which in reality was a parting gift unbeknownst to me at the time, as she had already had divorce on her mind.

Since she charged the Rolex DJ on our credit card, during the divorce I got to pay 1/2 of the full retail price of the watch, which I never would've done.
So I got to pay for 1/2 of my pre-divorce anniversary watch.

Yeah.....I sold that watch quickly after the divorce as that constant reminder of the negative memories every time I looked at it greatly overwhelmed the appreciation for the quality piece that it was.

Nor would I ever wish to pass on to my kids any piece that is symbolic of a failure.

Do yourself a favor- trade it in on a 16610 LV. You won't regret it.

Sell it, don't trade it. Trading it will just keep you thinking, "I traded my ex's watch for this." Once you sell it, you can do whatever you want with the money. Wait a while to get your tastes together and buy the perfect replacement (116610LN of course).

Bro get a Tudor black bay black with in house movement
You'll be looking way cooler than a guy with a black sub
And the watch is close to your sub but with much more should I dare say it "swag"

Of course you should get a new one. And the new one has to be a slightly better one, as your life.

This. Get a completely different style watch for a new beginning. I have 16610, 16750 and a 16710. The 16710 is easily my favorite watch.

You need more of a change than another sub.

Give the watch back and get new one with new memories.

If not an option sell it and spend the cash on something fun not the watch as it will be funded by gift from ex.

Then use cash from other pocket to get your watch. Then no memories or attachments.

Hi All,
I've been doing a lot of looking based on your feedback. Thanks so much for your thoughts. I'm, at this point, thinking a BLNR GMT or a 116622 Yachtmaster with the rhodium dial.

Any preferences?

Between those two I prefer the GMT for its added complication and splash of color

Can't go wrong with either. I really like the subtle hints of blue on the YM, but I think if I had to chose one, I would go with the BLNR.

I understand.

In your situation I'd upgrade to a ceramic 116610LN, or the 16610LV with the green bezel insert.
