OP: Don't worry about the hesalite crystal. You can easily polish it to a shine with Polywatch, or even toothpaste. I only polish mine twice a year and it looks great. My vote is still for the Speedy. |

Answer is simple, get both!
Fellow members have already mentioned ...well, everything. Pelagos is absolutely incredible, it IS a rolex minus the logo. Amazing bracelet and spring-loaded clasp, the accuracy of the new movement is superb, the lume is like a torch. Speedy Pro does have a lot of historical value, and like above ^, hesalite crystal is nothing to worry about, its very easy to polish. I think both are versatile watches, and both can be worn on many occasions. Hard to compare because both watches have different functions, one is a chronograph and one is just a standard diver. But more importantly, the Speedy Pro is almost like an homage to the past, while the Pelagos, as many would agree, is shooting into the future. It is a VERY high-tech watch. Get both. |

Having owned both, speedmaster by far. I stilll own the speedy but let the pelagos go after 1 month.
The speedmaster is classic, timeless, rich in history, and looks good. The pelagos is technically quite impressive but I found it's size not ideal and it just has a flatness to it (finish and 3 dimensionally) that just isn't nearly as romantic as a the classic speedy. Get the speedy now then go for the sub imo. Currently I have the speedy and a 16570 explorer II. A great pairing. |

Do you have any other watches? I agree the Tudor would be a fun daily wear, but the omega would dress up better, especially on leather.
I like the Omega and the "iconic" nature of it. But I just know personally, I would probably buy a Pelagos, only because I am a bit weird and don't want the "safe" choice. |

Speedy
No wait, Pelagos Can't lose with either. If you think you may flip it for a Rolex one day make sure you buy either one right and you will be fine. Both great watches but completely different animals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not a fan of the light case of the Pelagos, but at least the hour marker squares match the blocky hands and is a more faithful homage to the original... something that bothers me on the Black Bay. Looks great in black! |

No wrong answer here. A solid gold Speedy would be an otherwise worthless piece of metal if it lived in someone's drawer and never saw the light of day. As always the real answer is buy what sings most to you! |

I can't get used to the Tudor hands. Omega is a great brand. But, either is a serious compromise. How about banking the cash until you can buy your dream watch?

Did not own a Pelagos, but owned a Moonwatch and a Black Bay. I loved my Moonwatch more than the HBB because it is classic, iconic, and very comfortable to wear. That said, if this will be your primary watch, I am not sure about a speedy as the best option. Between the manual wind, lack of water resistance, and hesalite being prone to scratches (although easy to polish), it has its quirks. I was in a similar position a couple of years ago and went with the Omega, but just traded it to get my first Rolex :).
You cant go wrong either way. Good luck with your purchase! |

It's great when there's no wrong answer, since both are worthy watches. However, if you've never owned a Speedy you'll always want a Speedy. It's an icon for a reason. Mine always puts a smile on my face.

Pelagos, and if you don't get the Pelagos, then buy a Pelagos.

Far from it and a rather rude response as many people on this forum own both Rolex and Tudor. EricE

This picture says it all... a modern interpretation of a Daytona and the TRUE vintage Speedy design still holds its own 50+ years after the fact. The Speedy was truly ahead of its time. |

I just joined the speedy family and it's one of my favorite watches. I would definitely go speedy. Buy used - they are the best bang for the buck if you buy pre-owned.
