I can just picture JJ rocking back and forth from foot to foot; with legs crossed; and one eye looking at the bathroom door and the other at the monitor, trying to make up his mind.

We are all adults here and furthermore educated adults who are in most case affluent enough to be able to afford expensive watches. Responsible family men with demanding jobs. What I find therefore very, very hard to fathom is that some of you lack the empathy to realise that in a thread about kitchen knives it is unnecessary and even unwanted to all of a sudden show pictures of other knives.

I find it very childish to even begin debating this. As if you really, really don't know that there is something of an issue at all. The proof of this is the pen remark.

Yes, this is a Rolex forum that gives its members a large amount of 'breathing space', some even think too large. But why use this to, again and again start with this, what I think is a little childish behaviour?

You may be proud of your collection of knives and the fact that I like them or not is not the point here. If they are offensive to others could be a point but it is the underlying behaviour that is bothering me. Mainly because this is not the first time.

I do not want to see topics like these in the same category as politics and religion because I hope that we all have the good taste to not introduce those knives and guns every time there seems to be an opening for it.

That's real eloquent Frans as Martin said...allow me to be a little more vulgar.

I can't believe the number of morons who cannot differentiate between a chef's knife and a weapon.

Yeah hit me with the "but a chef's knife is deadly" garbage but the truth is, I don't see many bad kids or muggers carrying 20" long chef's knives in their jackets.

This comes from somebody who saw a guy have his Liver turned into Swiss Cheese in a nightclub carpark in Ipswich. I watched him die in tears, covered in his own blood. It wasn't pretty.

As with the gun threads, these weapons seriously affect people's lifes. You may collect them and be proud of them and you know what, good for you but try and consider others, think about what folk and their loved ones may have gone through due to these weapons.

Show a little respect!

I have great deference to moderators, having been one myself, so my hat's off to you and all the others. The very last thing I would want to do is to make your lives any more difficult.

Still, no, the first three responses did not seem to me to define the thread. I thought they were just a bunch of bastid sissies stuck in the kitchen hi-jacking the thread!

True enough, Jimbits, but then one might also take the tack of thinking about the freedoms that many folks and their loved ones may enjoy as a result of the proper use of those same weapons.

Still, now that I reread the rules, guns and knives are not allowed topics for whatever reason, and I must say that I don't know why a person comes to a watch forum to talk about weapons. There must be a bazillion sites for lawyers, guns and money... and knives!

Okay, three in a row is way too many posts.

I NEVER thought of my pocket knife as a weapon until this thread. It is a tool. However in the UK, kitchen knifes seem to be more harmful:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...on/7425187.stm

How about the sensitivity to victims of car accidents, Alcohol, drugs, trees, all bodies of water , etc. I am sorry I do not filter all of my posts through my sensitivity filter (which is quite bad anyway). Besides the fear of guns and weapons (and I use the term very loosely here are my knife is NOT a weapon) is the same as most fears: We fear what we do not understand.

As some of you insist on proving the wrong point and refuse to call it a day I will close this thread. Again a thread that has been sacrificed to the views of a vocal minority. Enjoy your guns and knives.
