Look at it from the perspective of " Opportunity Cost" you are 20 and only you're the judge of your situation. What will you give up to purchase this watch, an education, business opportunity? There is plenty of time to purchase a watch in the coming years so ask yourself if you could use those funds to achieve something else that will make you successful. That answer is only known to you. If it's not right now then so be it, but don't settle for something you don't care to have!

I bought my 16613lb at 32. I absolutely love my Bluesy. I also like the 116622 as well! Don't think you can go wrong with either. Post a wrist shot when he makes a decision.

You obviously like the Sub look... The pieces that you are going back-and-forth on aren't really that much difference in price considering they both are north of $10k.

If you're worried about it being too flashy, it probably is. Maybe go Sub Date.

I had an Omega and went Rolex in my 20s and regretted not doing it sooner. If you're in the minority at 20, as I was - secure employment with a few K to spare buy it and don't look back. Go lightly used to minimise loss should the worst happen and you need a few K.

Go for it....YOLO. Just appreciate if you worked hard and don't be a jerk with it on. Respect everyone and reflect on what you accomplished to be able to afford a beautiful piece like that and if its a gift then same applies. Understand the opportunity that you were given to own a piece like that so young, dont let it go to your head, and wear it with pride. Be thankful and humble regardless. My two pennies....

Does your son love and admire great watches or did he hint at wanting a Rolex? If so, then the love affair has already begun. If you can afford it, then he's very likely to appreciate it. I would however get something very subdued so as not to bring unwanted attention his way.

I actually suggested he looked at the 116622 in blue or rhodium dial, as I find that that looks much better on someone like him, so I just wanted more opinions on the matter
Excellent!

When I was 21 I bought my first house. The realtor told me that the houses in the price range I was looking at might give me a proplem getting a mortgage. So I just paid cash.
Don't let people tell you what to buy.

A Rolex under your belt as soon as possible imo. Unless daddies' buying it. Then you should do the decent thing and opt for a Tag or something until you can get your own. My 2p.
