Don’t want to stick my head in the lion’s mouth but, I know that if I was a reputable seller on this forum, I’d be pissed if someone that I sold a watch to needed to publicize the fact that he/she took it to the RSC after buying it from me.

I understand your need for verification, but for the sellers here, their word is their bond and their reputation for doing the right thing is the only thing that keeps them in business.

I understand your point. But this had nothing to do with the sellers reputation. It was essentially about the BUYERS reputation.....I needed to know!
Also, this seller was cool with it. We were texting during the verification process.
You make a great point about the reputable Rolex sellers on the watch boards. Their word is their bond.....Their reputation is EVERYTHING .

Nice watch. Your watch is called the 'Short Hand' in this forum btw.

I don't think they should be 'pissed' if this happens. In fact, they should all welcome it.

Trust, but verify. Especially if you are a newer member of a forum and bought something that is significant purchase to you. I don't see any problems with that.

I agree, nothing wrong with trust, but verification. No one should be naive in a world of thievery.

For sure, if a seller didn't want me to verify they get the watch straight back and everyone I know will know about it too.

Congratulations! If you don't mind me asking, how much did the RSC charge for authentication? Did they provide a certificate? Thanks in advance.

I have finally successfully completed my first Rolex Purchase and subsequently took delivery of a Rolex Explorer 214270 G ( 39mm ) early this morning.
Purchased from a reputable forum member/ seller . This watch showed up w/ all paperwork, tags, receipts and was in mint condition.

Immediately after unboxing , This watch was taken directly to the Rolex USA Service Center in Los Angeles for verification / authentication Not a local AD , I went straight to the bat cave .

It passed w/ flying colors .

Thanks to all the forum members that helped me through the buying process. Most of whom I've never met. Thanks

Ok, so here are some quick & dirties......More to come

Thanks fellas, I appreciate all the congrats. It's pretty special owning my 1st Rolex. This whole came about one day when I was looking at my watch case . I owned about a dozen watches. Mostly micro-manufactures like Armida, Bernhardt ( Fred makes sick watches...I kept his WUS project watch ) and others
And I realized I easily had spent 3-4,000 . Spending 300 to 500 at a time .This somehow disturbed me. I was disappointed that I just didn't drop 4,000 on 1 nice watch.
So, I sold everything. Except my Bernhardt and my Omega Seamaster and bought the Explorer.
I am very happy w/ my decision

Thanks

I completed a purchase with a seller on a second hand Rolex at the RSC in Beverly Hills in 2015...I asked the receptionist if they can verify authenticity and evaluate in writing for insurance purposes...they said they would do that (in writing) with a formal inspection, but that would take a couple weeks and cost $150...the alternative was a "complimentary cleaning," to where they would also open it up, provide a visual inspection for correct movement, and confirm whether stolen or not...but only verbally confirm if it's all good.

When you mentioned confirming authenticity, was it also verbal via the complimentary cleaning?

Wondering if they changed their policy/service offerings....and congrats!!

Verbal: The loophole w/ Authentication w/Rolex USA is that Rolex corporate policy is super strict in that they absolutely will NOT work on a watch without verifying authenticity. Period. They will not even do a complimentary cleaning without first establishing authenticity that it is indeed a rolex product .

So, in my case . My watch i purchased had paperwork and everything but I also knew I wanted the bracelet adjusted. I did some homework and discovered Rolex policies , and took it in for the adjustment. And exactly as I expected , when I arrived and inquired about the adjustment to the bracelet the Rolex tech said " Sure , no problem but 1st we need to verify authenticity "
So there you go.

Personally , I don't need paperwork at that point. If Rolex USA verbally authenticates my watch.....I'm good to go. Haha

FYI: Rolex Service Center Beverly Hills does NOT sell watches . There is no show room. This location is one of only three Rolex USA service Centers in the US . The other two are NY and Dallas

It's cool but it's High security: You need to pass a security check upon entering customer parking area
