Ahhhh the blro. Yes I do miss it a little. Although if I went the BLRO route again it would be too long before I could afford a daytona to go with it and that would be the main issue. I would also miss the D blue....the rest I could live without.

Josh, maybe a 16710? I actually ended up with your 214270.
I took it in a trade and a year later when I sold it, I looked at the warranty card and your name was on it.
Your watches are all over the place - in a good way!

Have you added up the real cost?

$3k to $5k is a huge margin percentage wise and suggests you don't really know or care?

I dont think between 3k and 5k is a huge margin pwrcentage wise when you consider ive bought and sold over 150k of watches in last year.

The Milgauss will never the love on here that the BLNR will. But I will say this...because of the polished bezel, because of the PCLs and because it lacks a date window it wears dressier than sport models. Its value in a collection is not simply for variety in styling, it also is a more versatile watch despite its lack of complications. And the green crystal is one of the most unique elements in the watch world.

Because we are talking new here I would pass on the Milgauss (I really like the watch personally).

Other pieces are good trade chips down the road.

I'm confident you'll keep for good at least two of these incoming watches. Maybe. Probably. :D

Hi Josh

I suspect our minds work differently

I'm looking at your estimate of loss in isolation, not against the total transaction value. Saying you lost between $3k and $5k on watches is same in percentage terms as saying you lost between $300k to $500k on, say, a property deal.

A $5k loss on $150k of watches is pretty good What I was questioning was the fact that that either $2k appears not important to you, or you may not have a true handle on how much its actually cost you to flip so many. I can pretty much tell you to the $1 (after conversion of course!) what my net cost is on watches since I got my first Rolex in 1985 - you've only been doing it for 14 months.

But if neither matters, fair play, and I will continue to enjoy reading your threads

Haha. I suppose it is possible that I misplaced $1000 this year. All of the insured shipping costs add up and I don't really keep track of those

I know some people get annoyed that I flip watches, but an equal number of people have messaged me saying that they find it interesting and fun to read about my journey.

So, on to the watches. I made a deal with one of my preferred ADs for 4 watches that I would like to try which should arrive in 7 days. Only 1 of these watches is a 100% keeper. 2 of them will likely be moved for a ceramic Daytona white dial down the road but the ETA is about a year.

1. 116660 D-blue. I sold this recently and it was a mistake. This watch will now be a 100% keeper for me. It fit so good on my wrist and looked so nice. I should never have let it go. Sometimes you have to sell something to realize what you lost. D-blue owners rejoice, you picked the right one .

2. 116400GV black. A classic example of something my heart has always wanted to try. I love the look but never got around to buying one because of the price.

3. 116710 BLNR. I sold this recently but it is just such an amazing watch that I wanted to give it another chance. My brain tells me to love this watch but the last time the D-blue dominated wrist time.

4. 114300 Rhodium. I threw this one into the deal at the last second. This is the most value per $ Rolex and I always thought it looked great. My AD sweetened the deal and I could not refuse. I will likely flip this 100% down the road but get to try it in the process.

The Dilemma Do I end up with:

1. D-blue, BLNR, DaytonaC

or

2. D-blue, MilgaussGV, DaytonaC

I feel like the milgauss brings a ton of variation to that trio with green crystal, smooth bezel, etc. While the BLNR is dwarfed by the D-blue and in a similar dive case. My brain tells me option 1 but my heart says option 2. I guess I will have several months to figure it out...What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading and I hope it was fun. I will post an incoming thread when they arrive with generous amounts of pictures . I am always up for a chat about watches so feel free to message! I leave you with a picture of my fathers 40 year old Bulova pocket watch which started my love of watches. Never serviced and it still ticks away.

Josh

Yawn. Whatever you buy will be flipped in a week anyways.

Buying and flipping watches a week later really doesent count as 'owning' them. Any fool can buy a watch and flip it at a loss.

So why start 'what should i buy' threads??? Meaningless. Your the guy who crys wolf. Your reputation isnt one of a rolex owner. Your just some guy who buys to flip. So spare us the "what should i buy" threads.

I haven't read all the messages and don't know whether or not you proceed to making a decision but I think BLNR is a tad more desirable and better watch considering all the facts from buying to reselling.
I had either watches, I remember missing BLNR but not missing Milgauss GV Z Blue

You sound upset that I flip watches for fun and like to talk about it on a public forum. Last time i checked this subject wasn't against the rules of the forum. If you don't like the topic of my post I invite you to keep your negativity to yourself. Have a nice day.

Some people are more indecisive than others. Josh falls within this category or he is in a process of trial and error. It is his right to do so man. No need to use epithets. Peace.

I'm a GMT kind of guy, however I'd go with option #2. Three totally different looks.
