OK, now that that is out in the air...
#1: yes the PCL can be brushed, but I personally have an issue with changing the specs (even the finish) of an all original Rolex. I appreciate wearing them with all the factory specs.
#2: did the 16700 ever come as an original COKE bezel, or just Pepsi???

I have to admit to wishing I had picked up a Coke bezel 16710 two years ago instead of the 116710 I did buy. The older models were still being sold new at AD's then, but I was smitten with the new watch. I still dig it, but wearing the Sub for a few months now has turned me on to the older style cases and bracelets and I really love them. They wear fantastically and look great.

I guess this just means I'll have to grab a pre-loved GMT down the line!

I know many folks pooh pooh the rarity and all, but you cannot deny sellers asking - and getting - a premium for these. Just saw a Stick Font Pepsi WITH a 3186 go for ~$5,000 on Timezone. Great seller / excellent condition did not hurt.

Yup. The thread is old, but seems like there is still life in the topic.
The stick or some say error dial isn't as rare as some suggested. I've seen K's ( non lug holes ) with stick dials. The only thing for sure is late Z 96xxxx and M #16710 were fitted with the 3186, that's it. Talking about rarity, the rectangular II with 3186 is a lot harder to find than the stick with 3186.

I LOVE my 16710!

But I am considering getting a new Oyster bracelet for it; saving the original, and using a new, improved bracelet, with better clasp and solid center links ...

As I´ll send my 16710 in for service in Spring 2010, is there a way to get a new, brushed GMT bracelet with all the improvements?

what do you all think??

( I´ve heard from Rolex, that a new "Super" Jubilée should not be fitted, as the "angle of force" will be all wrong )

?? will the 116710 bracelet or the SDDS bracelet fit the 16710??

Thanks, Hermann

A SDDS bracelet will not fit as it is 22mm wide rather than the 20mm that is on the traditional cases.

Yes, an RSC will re-finish the original 16710 bracelet back to its original burshed finish. The 116710 bracelet will fit on a traditional 16710 case, but Rolex will not do it for you on a service. You would have to purchase the bracelet separately (approx $1700 US that last time I checked).

I always loved the look of the coke bezel and for a time I wanted to get a 16710 with one. That changed when I had the 16710 and 116710 in each hand. The bracelet on the older model feels very flimsy and cheap while the newer model feels very solid. 116710 is a natural evolution of the GMTII period. It's bolder with the heavier bezel font and the supercase gives it a bigger presence even though it really isn't much bigger. Bigger watches are more fashionable today and the 116710 keeps the best of the 16710 and steps it up.

The only way to make the 116710 perfect is to change the "GMT-MASTER II" to "GMT-MASTER II" and change the 24 hour hand to red as well.

I'm still not used to your new username, but excellent pic Bill!

One of the reasons I prefer the 16710 to the new II-C is the iconic look of the Pepsi bezel, and the ability to switch to a coke or all black.

I wore a 1675 GMT on my left arm and a GMT II C on my right today. The 1675 isn't mine but my friends, just testing its timing for him today. I like the 1675 as it feels very light and comfortable.

The 116710 is the only modern piece I have besides the EXP II.
I am attracted to the Ceramic bezel and don't really mind its green hour hand..
Haven't had my hands on a 16710 so I cant really compare all three of them together. Each to its own, I feel it is well worth the value to have one of each
