OP, you haven't mentioned style you prefer, sporty or dressy, so these are random suggestions:

-Stainless DJll, but will require about $875 more fore new.
-AirKing, new version, but will require about $775 more for new.
-Explorer l, used is in your range, new will be about $1,300 more.
-OP 39, new.
-Explorer lol, 5 digit, used.

Good luck and have fun with the hunt!

Note: I used a trusted seller's site and prices for reference.

Ok guys. What's the BEST WATCH 5k can buy?

Too little pictures on this thread, let me show some good options:

Rolex Explorer 1 gets my vote, but on the 36mm size (14270, 114270; about $3500-4000 used depending on conditions, some savings towards something else)

Other nice options are:

1- Rolex 39mm Explorer 1, 214270 (if you like the proportions of the bigger model; about $4k used); below 114270 and 214270 on my wrist:

2-Omega Aqua Terra Skyfall blue (38.5 or 41.5mm; about $3k used); 38.5mm below:

3-Rolex Explorer II Polar white 40mm (about $3-4k used)
4-Tudor Pelagos (new)

As said before if you add details on dressy versus sport, dial color preference, etc would be easier to suggest options

I would say look around and see what you want. If its in your budget, buy it. If it's close, keep saving and buy it. Don't settle or you will most likely end up flipping it.

Do you need a date? If so, a preowned datejust. Otherwise a nice 214270
