No offense, I don't. Original Sub came sans date & cyclops, then when it was introduced, I've never seen anyone referencing it (in history or presently) as the 'Subclops'. I think people are making WAY too much out of the addition of a cyclops on a SD...a design element Rolex originally very much wanted to include on the SD when it first hit the market in '67.

I love how it's become semi sacrilege to some "purists" to add a cyclops to the bold & honored tradition of the SD...even though technically it took Rolex 50 years to FINALLY engineer an aspect they wanted to incorporate from the start. Hell, I contend if you're a true SD purist and historian you should be celebrating the cyclops addition and saying, "About time Rolex finally figured it out & no longer needs to compromise on a desired design aspect for sake of function."

I saw this today on the website before I went to my AD. This thing is a bad daddy and has me re thinking purchasing an 116610 and waiting for these to land. I like the idea of the bigger case. Heck, I like everything about it! The no cyclops is a thing that I dodn't much like about the sea dweller.

In Australia we will call it:

"UNOBTAINABLE"

SDR everywhere else?

SD50 or maybe SDR50 either/or for me

Both are simple and descriptive at the same time.

Just to clarify: LV does not relate to a model being an anniversary edition.

LV stands for Lunette Verte the French words for Bezel (Lunette) and Green (Verte)

This obviously refers to the green bezel of the 50th anniversary Submariner but the LV part isn't a Rolex reference that delineates it as being an anniversary model, just the fact that it has a green bezel.

The current green Submariner (Hulk) has an LV reference but is not an anniversary edition.

Should call it "do you think this looks too big on my wrist" that will be the most asked question about this watch.

I was talking to my local AD about this very thing the other day. I asked him what he would call it. He looked at me and smiled and said "about tree fiddy" which surprised me. But about this time I noticed this man was a seven story tall reptile from the Paleolithic period. He wasn't an AD at all. That doggone Loch Ness monster was trying to get tree fiddy from me again!

SD43 is certainly the easiest to type, but I like the ring of "43 Dweller" too

What are we going to call the new Sea-Dweller?

SD4K43R seems better. Tells you instantly what the revisions are from the SD4K
