As the old adage goes (slightly altered), I spend all my money on women, booze and Rolexes, the rest I just waste.

Most of us don't have BMW AND boat AND Harley's AND house AND Rolex - at least not all of them.

BUT - we love our Rolex's! It is a hobby, just like your bike.

Buy a Rolex, stay around - have some fun!

Who are all of you buying these watches, because the pictures posted here don't look like you are rolling in the money. Are you drug dealers, inheritance brats, or posers buying used Rolex's to show off?

I hate you all... except the posers because I could do that but prefer not to buy something that keeps food off the table or my children from attending good colleges.

Are you in Taunton Massachusetts???

I make about $100,000 LESS than you per year and have a Rolex GMT. Drug dealer? Heck no! Inheritance? Nope, I'll probably inherit their bills. Poser? Not even close. It's called SAVING, patience for 20 years, desire and chance.

Its all a question of priorities. You have your toys - a Harley and a boat. We have our toys - fine wristwatches. But our toys will hold their value better than your toys. They will even appreciate over time.

This is not even my passion. This place is just Fun. You ought to see what I spend on Hunting! I see alot of people spend Thousands of dollars on watches that won't be worth anything in a few years. Seiko lasalles used to cost $600 or more and what are they worth today?

You said it...your personal decision is you can't justify spending $10k+ on a watch. Some people can and do.

I think you're going to the Cannibas Cup in Nov. not a boat show. HAHAHA

You said it there. You have children. You can buy several Rolexes per year for what kids cost you. And if you do not like the Rolex after a few years you can sell it or trade it for another. Let's see you do THAT with your kids!

Your comments are both misplaced and misdirected.

Posting that on this forum, considering who most of the readers are, would be the same as someone going on a Harley forum wondering why people plunk down x# thousands of dollars to purchase/ride such noisy, garish, machines that places themselves and any passengers in harm's way each and every time they are used.

If you get it, you get it - if you don't, you don't. If you don't like what you find on the site, don't log on.

Life, IMO, is too short to waste time on a futile exercise like that.

140k is not that much income. Having a boat, harley, bmw and saving for childrens college would not really leave anything left.

Mark has said it. The post is provocative in the extreme and, being the good natured bunch that we are, we have all been very restrained in our response. The suggestion that we spend money on watches to the detriment of our family and kids is outrageous. Is this guy a troll or just provocative - its the same thing I suppose.

Well, I don't know... we sent our kids to public schools to afford the Rolex's...
