Deep Blue is a very nice dial but you have to wear the whole watch. It's huge, almost comically so IMO. I wanted a DSSD, a lot, but trying them on I think I'd bang it on every door and chair I walked by. Not that the watch couldn't handle it but that would drive me crazy.

The larger bracelet on the SD43 and the latest and greatest movement is what sold me on it. I've been extremely happy with it. If they only put Sea Dweller in Red for one year, well that'll just be icing on the cake!

DSSD is too tall, SD43 is perfect height and size. Of course for my wrist.

Try them on.

Prefer DSSD ... dome dial, no Cyclops, plus "hidden" blue dial.

SD43 doesn't stand out enough for me ....

Both would be best. It would also be the cornerstone of a collection.
And It's the only way to know for absolute certainty which watch will become the favourite anyway.

I felt the same way when I first got my DSSD.
To tell the truth I have hardly ever hit a door, chair or table with it but it has battle scars from sharp puppy teeth and mature dog teeth from rough games, also it's been barked up against machinery, pipe flanges and Stainless steel bolts in ships bilges when working in relatively tight places necessitating a crystal change at service time as a result.

The SD43 is a marvellous watch in its own right but it's not absolutely perfect either.

True enough.
That goes for the crystal as well.

The flat crystal on the SD43 without AR coating(at least on the inside) makes it just like all the other Rolex watches with a flat crystal. That is unreadable when the light hits it and reflect off it.
Where as the domed crystal on the DSSD is more practical day to day.

I honestly think Rolex missed a great opportunity to put an AR coating on the underside of the crystal of a watch with the introduction of the SD43 as an all new model in its own right.

Hard to beat. I wore the DSSD for a bit and was just too bulky and awkward feeling. Personal preference but I'd definitely try both first.

I wore the SDDS for years and ultimately let it go. I tried on the SD50 and it is basically everything I wished the sub would be. It's important to note both wear differently from one another and IMO the deep sea still has a place. SD4000 was a mistake and this new watch is what everybody wanted in a diver.

Sub on my wrist looks like a mini sub and as much as I love the look of it and the GMTII I can't wear them as they look like a watch for my son. SD50 is on my list...

I have the DSSD Blue and put it on a Rubber B strap which is wider than the bracelet and balances the head better, IMHO. I am not petite in build and this watch is NOT the biggest and thickest in my collection. I like the new movement in the new SD but went with the DSSD as the dial is outstanding.

SD43 everyday, it is perfectly proportioned, amazing power reserve and not too bulky to wear.

DSSD has a great story behind it but you really have to try it on and see if it is something you will actually wear or just look at it and admire the story behind it, practicality and fit always trumps for me.

I wear a black DSSD and I love the simple monotony of the white letters and numbers contrasted against the LN dial. I like the Deep Blue's bi-color, but I'm not a fan of the green letters which look a bit off.

I vote for the SD43 too because of the thinner case, and it's an anniversary edition with red letters. Bonus is the new movement. What more can you ask for? Prices are softening too, so perfect timing.

I prefer the DSSD Cameron and there is NO mistaking it for anything else. The SD 50 in Red looks similar to SubC in a quick glance...IMHO. No offense to anyone!

Only you can answer the question(s)...Which do you want? Which wears better on you? Do you want it mistaken for something else? If so, do you care?

Chose wisely and enjoy the new piece!!

Happy shopping!!

I am biased towards the Deep Blue as I own one and love it. That said they are both great watches and don´t let anyone tell you which to get, just follow your heart.

Let me add that the JC is a beautiful watch. I have 7.2 in wrists and it wears well. The micro adjust on the DSSD is hands down the best. Is more comfortable without the wet suit extension. Yes, I wear mine diving. I find without the extension I can wear over wet/dry suit sleev and under glove cuff. Protects the watch too. Never tried with a one piece dry suit.
