Do we have to bench race AWD vs RWD? I mean, I think everyone understands why on the street a car with a couple hundred HP less with AWD will leave a more powerful car. Doesn't really make one car "better" than the other. It's all subjective. The Demon is an incredible car. So is an AWD R8 or an R35.

Agreed. I'd love to add a Demon to the stable. Just trying to make the point that the times the pro driver got in the Demon will not be easily repeatable whereas my grandma could whip butt in an AWD car. And an actual owner already has a 720s in the 9's. Anybody want to line their demon up when they get it?

I love the idea of a car that can do wheelies bone stock and is designed to have that kind of super aggressive weight transfer to the rear wheels from the factory.

I'd never buy one but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate it for what it is.

I had a Mustang Cobra for a while; it was a great car for accelerating into traffic. There's no way I'd consider such a beast as the Demon although I've been following it since it was first announced. I'll stick with my cute little Mini S which can get me in more than enough trouble if I'd let it. It a lot of fun to commute in. Nothing like the Demon makes sense to me any more even if it is the fastest production car for 0 to 100 mph and it will pop wheelies.

I'd rather have 2 of these for the price of the demon.

Just saying.

The owner of this one is wearing a nice two tone steri dial Sub! (Skip to 8:25)

I’ll never understand guys like you.

I see it all the time on the car forums. Instead of appreciating the incredible beast that is the Demon, your reaction is to poo poo it and explain why your car is better.

Your Audi also is a work of art. An incredible machine that has earned its status as a super car.

That doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate the DD for what it is. The Audi and the Demon are two incredibly different cars.

Both are something special in my book.

If you read down a couple posts I did say I actually like the Demon and I think it's awesome that Dodge actually made it. The only point I was trying to make is that the results that Dodge got are not going to be easily repeatable because someone doubted the numbers that I stated. Sorry if I came off as arrogant or thinking my cars are the best or whatever.

straight line speed is over rated. a motorcycle can do it faster....

perhaps i dont get it but id rather have a vehicle that can turn at speed. very cool that they were able to make this for the price but it is what it is - a gimmick car.

Well, your cars are pretty damned incredible. I would love drive an R8, let alone have one.

I think i'm over that now. Back when I was playing the game mostly in 2014-15 I could still be competitive at least in the middle ground. Now the middle ground runs high 7's in the 1/4 and 220+ in the half. Contrary to what anybody says those cars break pretty often at that level and require tons of maintenance.

The only ideal build I would like to do would be maybe a UGR stg 3. But that build is like $140k now. Mostly money i'd never get back. I really don't drive the car that much as it is and probably would drive it less as a monster. 1250 whp doesn't get you far in competition and would probably just threaten my livelihood on the street. I sunk enough $ into the GT-R for a lifetime. I wanted to have a true 1000+ street car for a while and did that. Growing up sucks LOL.

I would rather have a ZR1 or even a new Z06 at the same money as a Demon but I think its awesome that they even made the Demon, gimmick or not. Many people that are getting a Demon i'm sure will already have a full stable of cars that can turn.

I Posted earlier. The Demon can pull 1G in the skidpad. It's not a '69 Challenger. lol

It'll out brake a Viper ACR from 60 as well.

Why? Depending on the reason, you'd have to remove A LOT of other cars already on the street as well.

You're bragging about how a car that cost $190k can beat a car that cost $86k?

Once again just saying that the numbers that everyone is quoting won't be easily repeatable by most people on the track much less the street. That is all. Yes the Demon is an awesome fast car that will be a handful to drive and will get beat by many cars with much less power. Cars like GT-Rs, R8s , Huracans and Porsche turbos have easily repeatable results by anyone and will be much faster in your average stoplight showdown. That is all. Yes the Demon is 2.3xx or whatever to 60 but I bet its a good bit slower on an unprepared surface where the other cars will do their 2.6-2.9 or whatever all day long. A few people who think horsepower is everything around here think their Demons on order will be the fastest things around just because they have 840 hp.

Part of me thinks almost every car should be offered at 500-600hp but there is a point where you can overpower the chassis. The Jaguar F-type V8 they made 4 wheel drive because it was almost impossible to drive as 2-wheel drive. Anyway looking forward to how this car performs.

There's a clip around with a Hellcat doing just fine from a dig with a Huracan on the street. It was a shat clip though since the Huracan driver had the worst reaction time in history but it was clear the results. Didn't want to get into a youtube quoting match. Fortunately for me, I'm not going to have to worry about how I'll do against a Demon. I just have a 12 second VW Golf Also it's pretty easy to F-up an AWD launch too.

Well, my dealer whom we have a very good business relationship and outside of business relationship showed me the email from the Chrysler head of distribution in canada and said all cars are spoken for and nothing available. He is going to have a sit down next week and see if he can work something out, but no promises. Wow, this car is going to get some big bucks further down the line.

I would imagine if you could pick up one of the few imported to Canada, it would be worth big bucks 40 years from now

Well that's not actually a real car just yet and I get the feeling Musk can't afford to put it into production since he's selling seats for it at $50k without a deliverable car. Sounds like a sucker bet to me considering how many people got hosed on their model 3 reservations. Good way to tie up 50k for x amount of years without interest.

Dodge Demon

Due to the friction coefficient of tires reportedly on that car Issac Newton would be calling BS. The only reason cars like modern F1 and LMP don’t even approach that. The amount of downforce required to over come the friction coefficient is staggering. Look at the fastest F1 cars with engines maxed out and downforce maxed average 3-2.5a and maybe a little better 1.9 i believe is the record. Line that Tesla up against a bottom marker Sauber and I’ll bet the sauber takes it to 60 and won’t look back and I’m talking straight line. The tires just can’t get the traction. Unless Tesla has used some kind of sticky substance to cheat there is no way. It breaks the laws of physics. That Tesla will probably accelerate faster once it gets up to speed but the lack of downforce simply will not allow the power to be laid to the road. There is a reason F1 and race cars need to go asFastAs Possible in turns otherwise the tires won’t hold. I want to see it on true tires. Yes a top fuel car can do it in under a second but the physics still apply to that and look at those tires. Acceleration is faster at 100-150 than off the line simply due to downforce. If any of you are interested Adrien Newey has a wonderful explanation how we are reaching the limit of just how fast a car can accelerate. It’s similar to Moore’s laws with computers. There is a threshold and we are rapidly aproaching it if not there. How can cars 10 years ago with less than half the HP be only a few tenths off thousand HP cars. Simple. Traction.

And if you think a GP motorbike has a chance against a F1 f2 or even a F3000. Google it. They are quick but no where near the most technological cars in the world.
