I went with the DJII because I wanted the sticks, and I just do not like the look of the thin sticks on the DJ 41. The case adds to the sportier look of the DJII as well.

Well, I went with this trio when the DJ2 was discontinued.
Love the proportions and the thicker batons which finally gave the Datejust a more sporty youthful appearance from its 36mm mainstay traditions. Having said that, there’s a cracking TT DJ41 with champagne dial on Jubille that’s a cracker of a watch to behold. Let us know what you finally get. You can’t go wrong with either IMHO. |

That dude really called the cheaper dj2 a hummer, and the more expensive dj41 a Honda.......

I would probably give the nod to the 41 over the 2. I do love the larger, bolder, "chunkier" look of the 2, but I'm nuts over the new stick dials in the 41. And the new movement along with the availability of the jubilee swings it for me.

Lot's a good pictures on here. To me (again my opinion only) the Datejust 41 just looks a little too pedestrian for me, a little too safe or conservative. The Datejust II just seems to "pop" so much more. Both are beautiful watches, don't get me wrong, but the 41 just doesn't sing to me like the II

Love all the comments and pictures, thanks guys.
I'm going into town tomorrow and try hopefully both models on. From all the comments on here I think I'm leaning towards the DJ11. I'm liking the white, black and the silver Roman dial. Just need to make sure I pick the right one!! My first Rolex!! |

My personal preference on the DJ2’s as you’ll see from pics above are the baton dials, but it’s a personal preference because I prefer my watches to glow in the dark.
The white dial DJ2 is beautifully crisp and clean looking. The Ivory Dial complements the yellow gold accents beautifully on the TT but my favourite for every day has to be the blue baton dial. The way it catches the light and changes colour in varying light conditions is really beautiful. The DJ41 has the same blue dial but with thinner batons. |

I like the more substantial look of the DJII and you should be able to pull off a better deal as well. The only thing that keeps telling me go 41 is the movement. I still give the DJII the edge.

The new Dj41 is so perfect. It fits like a glove! They got all the proportions right. The Dj2 is nice too it just looks more like a sports model to me. The new one looks more elegant and special IMO.

does anyone know if the lug-to-lug measurement is different on these two? I know the DJ41 has slimmer lugs but wasn't sure if the lug-to-lug was shorter as well.

Both are very similar but same choices are not available in both. Try on each and compare to see which one you like best.
The bezel is wider on the DJII and the case size is slightly diff as well. Happy shopping! |

The article is written in german but the comparison images show the differences between the DJ41 and DJII in detail. Just for your interests ;) |

^Beautiful watch my apologies I quoted your post. I didn't mean too. I wanted to see after the OP visited his local store today what he ended up going with.

My.choice goes to the DJ41 because I prefer it dressier than sportier. Fluted bezel and jubilee for me. The DJ II looks good, just not what I'd like right now.

I've had both. No question the DJ41 has better proportions than the DJII. I would definitely pick the 41 over the II.

DJ2 hands down. Batons are too conservative and skydweller style (i know the DJ had it first).

I have the same watch so I’ll answer. The hands glow green and the numerals glow blue. It’s kinda different and what drew me to this particular watch. It’s a unique dial to the DJII
