The DSSD works better for me as a daily especially not on two tone, but generally the SD43 follows with an exotic look.

I completely agree with your observation. The SD4k is a perfection. The SD43 is a worthy successor but then 4K is and will remain special, it has fantastic proportions and, first ceramic Sea-dweller and last of 40mm SDs generation line sans cyclops.

To the OPs question - I never had the DSSD on my wrist but I got the SD43, MkI dial which I also believe is a very special watch.

I'm a SD43 fan, but If you like largest Rolex divers you need both! First the SD43 and then the DSSD. Both are very comfy (for those who understand that you are going to put on a 185/215grms of 904L steel).

Hope this pictures helps. The SD43 was GET from the AD for me, and the DSSD is a very scratched 12 years old fat lady that I bought some days ago (I LOVE IT)...my answer is go for the SD43 and after a while if you can wear a Big Rolex then add the DSSD.

Great deals can be had a DSSD though and for a complete package you can come in around 8.5k in the pre-owned market. The SD43 is my current favorite watch and maybe my favorite Rolex diver of all time. The case size, bezel, dial, red text, cyclops, balanced bracelet, glide lock clasp. All work great for me. You will not regret it should you decide that is where you should go. Was it worth an additional 4k for me? Yes it was. Good luck.
Nailed it!!!!!

Have to agree when Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis founded the RWC in 1905 later they thought up the name Rolex which was easy to say in all languages. But seems like many forum members think this is hard to say, or spell, and rather use rather stupid names like Rollie.
