Sounds about right for that one. Its an eye opener though when the dealer selling price isnt what its actually worth for an owner. So many people (generally, not you specifically) see £8500 and think thats what their watch is worth. It usually isnt.
Agree totally. People look at places like WF and think 'my watch is worth x'; until they try selling it

I was just happy to get back what I paid for it. The novelty wore off quickly with the BLNR for me

I've had nothing but good dealings with them.
In fairness, I got an good deal with them on my wife's DJ. £1750 off the £11,000 advertised. I think it's just the 'hot' models they wont do anything on. Paying the whole amount rather than opting for finance always means they are able to do more discount.

I've also got nothing but good to say for WF.

I PX'd my Longines for my BBN ETA with them... they knocked a bit off and they gave me more than I paid for the HydroConquest!

I wanted the steel bracelet version (they had both versions listed at time) but by the time the deal was struck it had sold.

They was pleasure to deal with.

Same on the BLNR and LVc, their bid ask spread is huge, and their stock is building up so no need to bid more. Plus it's banker bonus season following a great year so really a seller's market.

I also have had good dealings with them and popular SS aside, yes deals can be had as they are volume traders.

Indeed - I also asked for quotations on the LVc and BLNR this week:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...8&postcount=38

Not that I was really interested in selling, but it's a caveat that people shouldn't assume that just because WF just keeps on upping prices that it translates to value or cash in your pocket!

Prices certainly are crazy. I wonder what the average sale price is versus asking price?

I'm sure this is very tight as I've seen a LVc there for nearly 2 months at £9.5K so I imagine they wanted £9250, tough to stomach as we know they paid £7-7.2K, the cheeky buggers.

I'm now backing Rolex and ADs and their engravings and tattoos and sleeping with your wife conditions, greys have to be killed off now.

As another update, I asked for a quotation on a BNIB James Cameron from Watchfinder, which they are selling for £12,450.

Currently, all they offered was £9,000, £1,000 less than a month ago when I last asked. That's £150 below RRP.

It looks like the spreads are widening... sell prices are going up but buy prices are coming down. I'm starting to think it's a sign that even WF is not confident that these crazy prices can be sustainable for much longer.

I think their inventory is rising too. Its a lot of money tied up in watches and margins need to go up. With a healthy (balanced) market they would not be getting the volume they currently are. So many people are unloading their watches they just bought at retail.

I look at it as they are not trying as aggressively to acquire more stock as they already have 4 D blues at least. Sometimes they dont even list every one they have so it doesnt look like they are flooded with them.

Not had any dealings with them recently, but I do seem to remember that average mark up on a piece used to be about 20%.

It is but picked up a 15202OR and something needs to go from the collection to fund it. It's either the 5524g or 5712-1a but as I already have a GMTII then I think the Pilot is off, unfortunately.

tough call. I would flip the 5712. I have that one too, but the pilot, couldn't do it.

The bids on this have always been horrendous, I asked in the summer before the Hulk and SS hype when I was thinking of buying one and while their ask was around 11.5K they offered 8.5K. A few others offered 9.5K so this was always a great one for them, and now this is on most of their populars. I then tried on a LVc and that was that.

I'd keep the 5712, my fave SS watch, altho I think after Basel I'll get WF to show me the 5524, one will probably still be there then, so I understand why they won't bid high.

For shits & giggles I asked about the outright purchase of my Harrods, considering these are currently selling for over £5k and Blowers have one listed for a stupid £6.5k.... price I was offered from WF.....

£2.6k

I actually thought that was the line for a few weeks, thought it was a bit harsh but everyone seemed to be motivated by it.

Jokers. And they will mark it up higher than "lowly little" Blowers too.

We should just rename them - SPREADFINDER

WF is just telling everyone... NO not an investment people. For them yes, for you no.

Its a bit risky to offer anything below retail though as cutting off their supply means no watches to sell at huge markups. Who would sell a hot model at a loss? Not many im guessing. It has to be because they just have too much stock currently.

Exactly, why would anyone buy for the purposes of flipping to them directly anymore? Especially now considering that ADs in the UK may be limiting the number of SS that can be purchased per year. Surely that will dry up their supply of BNIB to markup to ridiculous prices.
